What is the scientific basis for this? What is so special about September 30th as opposed to any other time? It beggars belief that this is being considered at a time when there's so much anxiety surrounding the (much more necessary) re-opening of schools.

As far as I'm aware the virus situation won't have changed by the end of next month, so mass gatherings of people will continue to be highly risky, if not seriously irresponsible. How can they realistically enforce social distancing and mask wearing in an environment when a large number of people will want to sing and shout? A handful of people joining in the first round of 'the referee's a ***ker' and it won't be long before Leeds is back in lockdown. SL clubs are struggling as it is to keep their squads free of COVID as it is, and West Yorkshire is already something of a national hot spot for the virus - absolute madness to re-open Headingley in this way, even with a reduced capacity.

I still don't understand why clubs/RFL haven't done more to develop a streaming service. It would be the ideal solution if fans aren't permitted into grounds for the foreseeable future.

Regardless of the science or rights and wrongs of this, there’s no way the government will bring the date forward. They have so far only put dates back.

Whats the problem with getting people back?

Deaths are almost zero (most are back dated and some not even due to CV19 like the mysterious co-morbidity figures)

Cases can be found anywhere if you test like crazy in areas that have increased levels (Rochdale, Blackburn etc) - which is whats happening.

It doesn't help those that hide behind the sofas and are obsessed with masks, despite it being 6 months too late.


The whole situation is no longer scientific - its political willy waving.

We've had VE Day congas, Bank Holidays, BLM marches, Schools part opening, Pubs opening, Restaurants open and NO second wave.

How many more 'in 2 weeks times' do we have to wait?



CV19 is done. Its only the scaremongering MSM and state run BBC that are desperate for clicks to advertising that are keeping this whole situation alive.

We have got to start to get back to some level of normality, there are currently fewer than 800 people in hospital with Covid, if we just keep being shut down businesses including sports clubs will go to the wall.

My wife is a nurse (who has had covid without even knowing about it) and there are practically no covid patients there at the moment and that is in a ‘hotspot’

Fans are being allowed to attend a Brighton friendly, so 30th September may not be out of the question

There are around 450 Covid patients in English hospitals at the moment. That's less than one patient in three hospitals. I believe the rolling average for deaths is around 6-7 per day.

I understand Harlequins in union are trialling crowds in one of their fixtures. The country needs to get back to normality.

The problem is not letting people back into the ground, it is way do you start. How many do you let it and which part of the ground do you start with. If it was left to GH he would try and fill the place, look at the facts,
A crowd limit of 21,000, some say season ticket holders amount between 9,000 to 10,000. So where do you start to fill the stadium.
What about the corporate season ticket holders. look at the directors suite and the emerald suite, some have tables of 10, some have more. who do you let in the chap with one / two tickets or the corporate ticket holders who carry more weight and pay the best part of £200 per ticket per game.
Candidly its going to be a disaster, GH wont want to upset the corporate people, he knows if he upsets them there is a lot of money to hand back. guys no easy solution here. Its going to be a total disaster and a nightmare.

Surely the corporate seats with the meals act just like restaurant would? its no different in principle.

As for normal season ticket holders, if there is only 3,000 tickets available just let ST holders apply on a first come first served basis, there will never be a totally fair way to do it or an easy way but that's not a reason not to try.

How many fans would have to be let in to make it profitable?

Maybe something similar to Bradford City who are selling STs and you are either a "Claret" or "Amber" ticket holder and they hope to alternate every week between the two. Although their ticket prices are about half of ours and they have twice as many matches! I doubt people will be too willing to fork out 300 quid for 5 or 6 matches. Would we be prepared/able to drop our ST prices pro rata?

How do we know weve a game on 30th? Fixtures have only been announced for next weekend havent they?

Whilst Krisleeds’ post is firmly in the wibble tinfoil hat category, he does have some semblance of a point as do you.

Nobody is immortal CV19 or not, I doubr CV19 will be ‘done’ at any point in the near future, that is why we have to start getting back to some kind of normality, the vulnerable should be sheilded but life is not 100% risk free
