| Wonder if that’s why the winger had a week training with us?
Not good news for them.

| They can't keep up.
The team relegated; Bristol, London Irish, Exeter, Worcester, Newcastle are always LOADS better than whats left in the Championship and pretty much always go up.
Leeds cant keep their best home grown players:
Luther Burrell
Danny Care
Tom Biggs
Jordan Crane
Calum Clark
Tom Palmer
Dave Doherty
Dan Scarborough

| They are also a money pit.
Its worrying because despite the "squatters" tag bandied about, the investment by the RFU helped to upgrade Kirkstall and they are making Headingley a year round venue.
They spent a fortune re-organising etc the other year didn't they? I take it they put all the eggs in one basket in a poop or bust attempt at Promotion?

The winger, Elijah Nico would be the obvious one. Was a highly rated junior in league, won the u20's comp with NZ Warriors, moved to Melbourne and won Queensland Cup winger of the year for there feeder team. Moved to the Aussie union 7's circuit and been in union ever since. 6'4 roughly 17 st, trained with us last week.
Dont think he played any first grade in League so wouldnt count on cap because he'd be new talent being brought into our game, not sure if he would count on quota under the same rule.

| Wonder if the rule that applies RE players being exempt from the quota for the length of their first contract if they have moved from a club in administration would count with it being cross code.

| Isn’t any player signed from union 100% exempt in year 1 and 50% exempt in year 2?
Never mind the Yorkshire Carnegie winger, Israel Folau should be available

| We shouldn’t touch Israel Folau with a barge pole. He’s a disgrace to spout what he has done, twice, and in any case it seems to be to get sacked from his current contract so he can take a big money offer from French RU.

Hetherington overseeing another fine mess. He should have took the money when Caddick had the buyer for the whole operation. It was good investment from what I understood. Instead he said he could do it his way, and had to agree to buy out Caddick himself. Look where both operations are without Caddicks involvement.

Caddick Group Plc are still the parent owners of the rhinos on companies house and Paul Caddick is listed as a director. Or do you mean Caddick personally being involved?

No disrespect, but let’s be honest, it’s pointless explaining anything to you. The club would need to announce it first.

No please, go on. Tell us what it is you think you know about the ownership and management structures of YC. Because based on what you posted above, it's wrong.

| My understanding is that Hetherington got spooked by the figures. When Leeds Tykes were in the Premiership and looking to cement their stature as a club, it was explained to both Caddick and Hetherington that for the money that they were paying their International RL players they wouldn't get anyone good enough to compete in the Premiership. If they wanted to compete they had to pay the cash.
Caddick got this and was happy to go go for it, Hetherington flat refused to pay middle of the road Union players twice what World Class League players were on.
For me allowing Hetherington to have his way killed Carnegie as a club. It takes time, had Caddick persisted the Union side would be a serious brand. As it is it is failing.

The problem was there didn't seem to be an apetite for PL RU in Leeds and Hetherington was probably correct in identifying its unsustainability with a big squad on big money. It seems all top RU clubs need benefactors with very deep pockets. Its one thing understanding the need quite another feeding that need with your own money.

And Caddick came out of it as a result, as he wasn't prepared to continue the way Hetherington wanted it. As you said, knew exactly what would happen.

If we take Leicester Tigers in about 1999 they were getting 1700 odd fans, by 2009 that figure was 17000 and recently they had a gate of 27000. A twenty year business plan is not unusual.
The success of the 2004 to 2014 Rhinos with adequate development would (IMHO) have translated the massive interest in West Yorkshire amateur Rugby Union into interest in a pro club. But as it happened Caddick admitted that owning a Union club was a hobby.
I'm sad because there are now no realistic pathways for the many hundreds of lads who play amateur Union to make a living from the game in West Yorkshire.
