Tough game indeed. Hopefully Ward isn't bad, the lad can't catch a break on the injuries front i hope his career doesn't become one of what might have beens as with an injury free run he could be a world star.

Ward has a torn calf, which can be anything from two weeks to two months. Knowing his luck, it’ll be the longest.

I really fear for Ward as he puts everything into his game (maybe that`s why he gets injured) and god knows how many tackles he made today before going off.
How many games a season do we get out of him?
He is absolute class when fit.

Hmm, cheers for the update. I remember reading a piece on him during his last long lay off saying he considered calling it a day due to constant long roads back to fitness. Must be gutting for him yet again.

Looks that way. He used to be a decent wider running second rower. Now he’s the size of a house and gives away needless penalties when he actually gets out on the pitch. He’s a friend of Hardaker’s too, let hope he’s a better influence around the younger players

I’m glad we’re playing on Sunday and that we’re not playing a team coming off the back of a week off. Hull have it tough traveling to Cas with a shorter turnaround, but then again it was Hull’s choice to go down under to play an additional fixture.

How is it Ferres' fault that he's had injuries whereas for Ward its bad luck?

Perhaps if he kept himself in better physical condition during these bouts of inactivity he would be less prone to getting injured. Ward appears to get injured in the heat of battle - Ferres seems to be get injured outside of actually taking the field.

Captain obvious but Widnes are going to come absolutely roaring out of the gate on Sunday, lets hope we don't crumble like the godawful 2016 "performance".

Or the god-awful 2017 performance.

Interesting to see what squad we will have available. I don't hold out too much hope of a result here considering how unexpectedly well Widnes have started the season and our recent form over there coupled with the WC trip.

Any news on returning bodies for this week yet?

Not sure, but looking at the team Frosties listed I wouldn't be surprised if Moon doesn't make it. Was risked and got through the game but didn't train whilst over there as well as missing the HKR match so might not be right still and not risked in a league game.

It's possible we could have as many as 9 or 10 missing when factoring in tiredness dejected n the awful pitch at widnes

Some players wasnt flying back til Sunday night. The players was flying back in 3 groups. Sat at 6pm, Sat 10pm and a couple on Sunday night.

A trip to Widnes is never a happy hunting ground for us. This wont be easy either.

Hit the nail on the head there regarding Ferres, he has been carrying a few stone of excess (Bad weight) for years now, this isn't going to help. Really do feel for Stevie Ward, the lad cant catch a break, luckily still got age on his side and hopefully will be able to kick on.

Widnes are without their best player, Chris Houston, who is suspended.

You certainly can’t blame it on the player. Funny how Mr Bentham has these incidents more than all other referees put together. Something not quite right there.

Not sure you can blame it on the Widnes player either. In all seriousness, I think the referees need to be more aware of their surroundings and positions, same for both codes. Amount of times a player is having to move the ref or gets obstructed by them is ridiculous, as is this ban. I agree the refs needs protecting but every case needs judging on its own merits.
