Massive win v Hull FC today, the biggest win of the season in my opinion. Downside of today is obviously the injury to Ashton Golding. I expect him to miss out on Monday after that and also expect Lilley to be in at Scrum half. Hoping that Oledzki gets on the field after huge reports from both Featherstone & Bradford. The thing is I'm not too sure who McDermott will rest for the game. I would like to see a few youngsters get a game but cannot see McDermott doing that.

No way is Moon going back to the centres, not even against Widnes.

Oledski and Lilley didn't play today for Fev or Bradford, so they'll probably play Monday.
I think the plan was probably to rest McGuire and give Lilley a game, but with Golding's injury, I think Sutcliffe will move to full back, Moon back to centre, and Lilley in the halves.

I've heard he won't be playing on Monday.

If it was in the last 5 minutes than they wouldn't be able to say really, dependent on if he would have been able to come back on if there was longer to play.

Possibly May role over and have to go with the seven day rule.

Oledski and Smith in the U19s for tomorrow at the moment, so they don't look to be playing against Widnes at the moment, but we'll see.

Hope Golding and sutcliffe are alright. I'm guessing we may play a rotated team for Monday (as much as we can with injuries). But I have to say, in my opinion, keeping moon and McGuire together in the halves is our best option moving forward. Think what you like about moon playing in that position, but to me it can't be denied it's working. He's a threat to defences and it brings out the best in McGuire. Which partnering with suttcliffe or burrow seems to not.


Obviously I've read this thread now. We could move moon back to centre if suttcliffe isn't able to play Monday, but I really do see it as a last resort. If that did happen I'd deff want to see how McGuire and lilley go, as i do not think McGuire and burrow work at all anymore.

Golding and Sutcliffe won't be playing on Monday. It certainly gives McDermott a selection headache. Perhaps Jack Walker might be drafted in to play full back.

Is Ash Handley injured?

From today's game I'd expect Golding and Sutcliffe to miss Monday through injury, with probably Galloway and Ward missing too, as 2 games in a weekend on return from a long injury is a big ask.

Personally I would like to see us rest a number and give as few the opportunity. I would also like us to keep Moon in the halves. To do that, play Ward in the Centres, played there a number of times before.

Alex Sutcliffe was close to playing against Wakefield at home. Wasn't the plan for him playing Monday, but think he might have played against Doncaster. Maybe he might be drafted in for Monday now.

He isn't in the under 19s for tomorrow so I assume he's picked up an injury or playing on Monday?

Sam Hallas is back fit now I believe so he could possibly be drafted in for Monday. Lilley will probably play maybe Oldezki and JJR, also can Aston be recalled when we need him?

McDermott confirmed in press conference after the match that both Golding & Sutcliffe will miss Mondays game. Hinted at others being rested as 'carrying knocks'

Aston on a no recall loan. Maybe Hallas will get a game also.

Josh Walters will get a game now as well with injuries.

Wouldnt rest too many for Widnes as many can be rested on Friday against Doncaster, who shipped 80 to Toronto a couple of weeks ago

I would go with moon at fullback, as he has basically been attacking like a fullback anyway

I havent seen much of Jack Walker, thought he was a 7? If he looks ready then maybe put him at centre or bench to start and switch a bit with moon

Would start Baldwinson and give Oledski his debut, as for the other props you would have to see who looks most tired over the weekend and rest him

It is an interesting point about resting players. Widnes should be an easy 2 points but if we mess around too much with the squad then I can see a repeat of what happened when we played London was it 3 seasons ago? Two points that might be important later in the season.

However I also agree it's very important to rest some players so we don't have too many players over worked going into the business end of the season. With Doncaster coming up I would also be inclined to use that as the game to rest players.

I would keep Moon at 6 as this is the key pivot position and so much of our attack is coming from him in that position. As I previously suggested in another thread Ward can cover one position and perhaps Cameron Smith the other (if fit) with Watkins to fullback. If we keep Watkins at the problem is who plays the key position of FB? I do not know enough about our young three-quarters to consider them.

In any event our attack must not be weakened on Monday and we can rest players against Doncaster.

I think we need to be careful not to rest too many on Monday especially having Golding, Sutcliffe, Keinhorst and Ablett missing.
Let's get the 2 points in the bag first and consider our position the following week.
