| What do we think.
Will BMD follow tradition and pick the same team in the hope they turn around a negative result, Or will he mix it up a bit.
He doesn't have many options to make wholesale changes but he can tweak it little, I would start Sir Kev at loose and give Singo a breather on the bench. His stats against the Wolves screamed of a tired player. The only other change I would make bring Yates back in for Mulhern, I rate Mulhern very highly but clearly BMD doesn't trust him yet.
Hopefully Kallum passes the head test if not we are in trouble, we may see Goulding on the wing but not at full back with Zak on the wing.
If Goulding or A N Other plays on the wing anvil head (Brough) will have a field day.
Can't think of anything else he can change really with a shorter turn round then normal.......

| Walters and Robbie Ward returned for Hunslet/U 19!s last week. JJB said he had a slight chance of making the Warrington game so possibly ready this week. Hall might have an outside chance of making it.

Halls got no chance, according to BMD he doesn't get the pot off till later this week.
If Ward is out JJB or Walters comes in, Watkins is the big worry for me we are running out of fit backs. Maybe Duckworth back duel reg from Hunslet......

Not sure I buy into the tired player routine Rastrick. Maybe Wire just made him look tired and weak. He may be carrying a couple of knocks, but it is humanly impossible to be tired when your whole seasons output is less than half a normal persons working week. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit with half a working week............ten hours so far this year maybe.

Think I would have Singleton in there somewhere !! (You must rate Achurch very highly?!)
Ablett back in the pack for me....and Golding on the wing will be a mistake. Watkins MUST play in his centre position and I would rather bring in a genuine winger (who plays wing for Hunslet?) or Keinhorst.
We also need another big pack for this game I think. If Stevie Ward is not fit then let's see how Achurch goes there instead of not-so-good rotation prop.
Hardaker
Keinhorst/A.n.other Watkins Moon Handley
Sutcliffe McGuire
Cuthbertson Sinfield Peacock
Achurch Ablett
Delaney/JJB (3rd prop)
Yates Mulhern Singleton Aiton/Burrow

I think I understand what you are saying but I don't agree. To say a Pro RL player only works for 80 mins a week is both unfair and naïve.
They train most days of the week and play a very tough physical sport at great speed, some of the collisions are like car accidents.
I'll be willing to bet that you feel quite a lot better the day after work then an RL player does.
Back on topic, Our entire pack looked a little jaded against the wire some more than others. I was just pointing out that Singo's stat's compared to the rest of the pack were below par. That said for a young prop he has been fantastic this year and maybe needs a few games off the bench to recover a little....

If you ask any of the full time lads that have moved up from part time status I'm sure they will tell you how good it is compared to digging a trench at the side of the road all week. The conditioning staff at Headingley want shooting if Singo is tired after having played his last game a week before. Training and rehab will be tapered to deliver optimum performance on match day, and a week to prepare should mean no player is physically tired come matchday. He may still have a nagging injury that he is struggling to shake off, and he may well ache a few days after a tough game, but to me tiredness is something a tennis player gets at Wimbledon when he has played 3 matches in 3 days in 90 degree heat on centre court, or an athlete who runs in the 10k one day and then goes out and competes in the 5k the following day. We are only a third of the way through the season, tired is something that a player playing parts of an 80 minute game should never be at this stage.

| I would go with the following
Hardaker
Keinhorst
Watkins
Moon
Sutcliffe
McGuire
Cuthbertson
Aiton
Peacock
Delaney
Ward if fit or Walters
Ablett
Sinfield/Burrow
Singleton
Achurch
Mulhern
We need Watkins back to centre not wing.
Whilst Keinhorst is no Briscoe he is safe under the high ball and defends pretty well.
Ward probably needs a rest thanks to over using the lad.
Ablett is needed in the pack as we need to freshen it up a bit
If Walters is unfit then bring Yates in.

Mac said that he did it in 60th minute but with the game where it was he stayed on. The game was done with a pretty Warrington bow on it. So not quite sure what the benefit was to anyone. He should have come off and Mulhern should have been brought on for a proper stint.

If that is the case I would move Hardaker into the centres golding at Fb and Keinhorst and handley on the wings. Sinfield to start ablett into the pack

| If Golding's ever going to make it as a fullback he should be able to play wing too. It's a much less demanding position, and if he is going to be a weak link you'd rather it was at 2 than 1.

I see what you're saying, and you're right in many respects, but I always think this line of argument with professional sports people is missing something. The thing is that a "tired" RL player can certainly go out and do the job again for 80 minutes. Fine. But what actually matters is not their energy level vs the average man on the street, but their energy level vs their opponent. If the opposition forwards are, for whatever reason, a bit fresher, that will tell.
A grand slam tennis player has a slightly different position, for example, in that their opponent will also have played the previous rounds of the tournament in broadly similar conditions. This is why the top players will be concerned about finishing off their early opponents as quickly as possible. They do worry about court time vs their later opponents.
Doing the 5km and 10km double is a phenomenally difficult thing to do. Sometimes you will be helped by the fact that some of your key rivals will also have done it, but a 5km specialist will always be at an advantage. Some truly great runners (Tirunesh Dibaba being an obvious example in 2012, who I regard as one of the greatest athletes of her generation) have failed to accomplish it. For the record, nobody would accomplish it if it was the next day. There will generally be a gap of 3 or 4 days between the 10k final and the 5k heats, and a full week between the finals.

| I don't think tiredness has anything to do with the energy levels or how far they have run in a match. The key thing leeds owl is missing in comparing full time Super League players to the average worker is the actual body condition after a match. They take some pounding in the collisions, and because of that you continue through the year with niggles, which effects the body's tiredness.
Of course it would be a valid point to argue had he compared them to part time championship players. But not really to average workers doing their daily routines.

I was relating it to how far they have run in a match, and tiredness a week after. On that basis my post was saying the tiredness is to do with the body condition rather than energy levels in general.

| Maybe we should pop an email across to Huddersfield, see if they agree to a postponement?
If they turn us down, GH can post a disjointed, seemingly drunken rant in the YEP in the same way Marwan's done in the MEN.

| I doubt Kallum will have time to pass his concussion test. I don't think they're allowed to train until 6 days after incident. Keinhorst will probably come in for him. The other change I think will be JJB on bench for Ward. The guy was hobbling around for ages, whilst Mulhern was left on bench. Dumb IMO, when the game was long lost. I think they're a bit hopeful on JJB though. Might find Yates actually make the 17, along with Mulhern.
chapylad just beat me to that, as timed out.

| Despite the trophy wins of the last four seasons, the inconsistent league form of those years means that however well we've been going at the moment, it only takes one sub-standard display like Friday's to make me fear the worst again. I'm dreading Thursday a little bit.
