| Well the list is out and Kevin has made this list (not) again.
In fact no professional made it this time
If you look hard enough you will find the following
Congrats to Martin Stevens COYD For services to Rugby League. (Gillingham, Kent)
Stuart CUMMINGS Lately Match Officials Director, Rugby Football League. For services to Rugby League. (Ikley, West Yorkshire)
and
Malcolm KIELTY For services to Wheelchair Rugby League (Halifax, West Yorkshire)
But the one that should be there is Sir Kevin.

| I would be extremely disappointed in Citizen Sinfield if he accepted any state-sponsored award at all.
So disappointed would I be that I'd dash out to buy a season ticket just so that I could post it back to the club in disgust.

| I despise the royal family and all that goes with it. Destroy the class system and form a republic.
Many people from all walks of life refuse honours but are not allowed to say they have refused one,( or it's scorned upon) danny Boyle is probably the only recent person to pupil ally refuse one, I would love Kevin Sinfield to do the same.

| IIRC the likes of Ben Thaler, Richard Silverwood and Phil Bentham all came through to referee in SL under Cummings's watch as head of match officials.
If the joker we had on Boxing Day and the likes of Robert Hicks are indicative of the development work being done under Ganson and Jon Sharp, I'd be lobbying for Cummings to get a Knighthood and his old job back.

| The ones given out to sports personalities have become quite silly for a while now. I'm more of the opinion that if they are going to award sports people it should come at the end of their careers. However success in 1 event/tournament/season and they're immediately getting honoured. It's not like you see the ones given to actors after a couple of movies or musicians after one album.
On one hand you have 5 of England's 1966 World Cup winning team who didn't receive MBE's until the year 2000. At the other end of the scale Audley Harrison got one after the 2000 Olympics, no doubt for "services to boxing" yet after then he's done more harm than good to the sport with some awful showings. Paul Collingwood received one along with the rest of the 2005 England Ashes team even though he played one test and scored a total of 17 runs in 2 innings. Beckham was awarded in 2003, the halfway point of his career.
*Yes I know Peacock has got one too. Whilst he does deserve one I don't believe he should have been recognised until he had finished playing.

If that was the case it would mean testimonials being awarded posthumiously. All those Leeds players who have had testimonials in last 10 years are still playing apart from Senior.

Doesn't count if you only disagree with testimonials based on petty and childish personal dislikes for the player in question.

No it doesn't, but then again I have never once mentioned such an occurance. My view is the same regardless of player.

If the wearer works in a kitchen; yes. Otherwise, a stern rebuke.

| Kevin Sinfield has simply done his day job - albeit to a very high standard - just like the rest of us.
Surely these awards should be given for service/achievement beyond the call of duty?

Agreed, however, when compared to other sportsmen who have received the awards I would say that he more than qualifies for some recognition (although admittedly not a knighthood)

He might help his cause by winning at Wembley one day.
Judging by his effort in the RLWC Semi Final with just seconds remaining, he's got nobody to blame but himself.

There is another thread on here where some people are calling JJB an hero and a legend. That is a very average player who has done his job, and been lucky to be part of a very good squad. Sinfield has done far far more than simply his job, he has achieved way beyond that. Without him those lucky players like your JJB's would never have achieved what they have.
