| I notice there isn't the Vickery Out Kneejerk this week, following his performance against Wigan.
Whilst no-one can claim that what he did was game breaking, he put in a solid display and given the hammering he took last week against Huddersfield (scapegoated for a performance most of the team should have been ashamed of), he also deserves praise for his efforts this week.
I don't think there's anyone around that would claim we'd signed another Ryan Hall straight out of the bag, but given he is there because of injury and about the best available player in his position, he did his job against Wigan.
Probably he struggle to get back in the side when everyone is fit and available, but for a player who seemed low on confidence after the Huddersfield game, hopefully he will take some encouragement from the Wigan performance.

| I still don't see what he brings to the side that Keinhorst or Chisholm couldn't. Every aspect of his game is average, and alhough he isn't being helped by the poor decsions being made by the other playerdefending on the right he still looks our weakst link.

He's miles above what Keinhorst was giving us.
But in response to OP, he was garbage again on Friday night. Looks like a player who's confidence is completely shot.

| Looks like a player who is well out of his depth - he is simply not SL standard and certainly not the standard required of a top side

| Thought he did Ok on Friday but still not up to the standard that we'd expect to see in a Championship winning side.
As has been said already, Scotty Donald took a season to bed in, so it might just be that Vickery needs a little time to settle.
That being said I love to see Chisholm get a couple of first team games just to see what he's capable of at the top level.

| I think garbage is a little strong. He made some mistakes but, much of what he did with and without the ball was adequate, which essentially sums him up.
He strikes me as player who will develop further, given the right coaching and opportunities. However, that is not to say he'll ever be good enough to be our first choice winger. I expect to be appearing at a stadium near Wakefield or Hull in the not too distant future.

| On Friday, I felt he maybe got away with being a bit indecisive a couple of times before his confidence grew a bit. Overall he did ok and I've seen BJB have worse games. I've also seen BJB play much, much better than I've yet seen Vickery do but I do have a sneaking feeling that Vickery's actually capable of a lot more than we've seen so far. Put it down to natural optimism on my part

| I hope he is cheap Tad, I dont see what he offers more than one of lads we already had, He aint no Scott Donald for pace so if we do make a break that side I can see him been caught easily whereas Hall has power on his side to shrugg off players.

| One of the most telling points about Vickery was McGuire often cut back inside when having Vickery as an option and Sinfield dummying to kick to his wing only to kick to Halls wing.

Think you've answered your own question there chief.
FWIW and IMO of course, Vickery was signed for cover for Bish, he's shown a willingness to put his hand up to play even though I suspect he wasn't fully fit after his injury (and I still don't think hes 100% either) he's given it his best shot thus far and really hasn't been helped by more illustrious players going AWOL on defence (though not as bad on Friday) and the fact that he is still very, very green.
There is no way on gods green earth mac was going to drop Vickery after the sHudds game, that really would have destroyed any confidence he has left, though I can maybe see him being rotated out now either dual reg or "injury" but I honestly reckon that he'll be in that position until Bish is fit, loyalty to his players seems to be macs philosophy over anything else, right or wrong.

People who ignore the fact that Vickery is from Exeter would have been saying that.

Do you think he is good enough to take Jamal Chisolm and Tom Bush's place.
Not sure he is.
Barry Eaton didn't even want Clarkson and McShane this week as he said they wouldn't get a game.

| I give up: might as well join the club and coaching regime can-do-wrong-appreciation society.
Nothing against the kid personally, but come on...really? What a sad reflection on the the club's recruitment policy and SL more generally that he can fly over here on a whim and walk straight into the champions' RW spot after a single first choice injury

| I feel a little sorry for Vickery for all the abuse he has received but he has been very lucky to walk in to a champion team. In the past we have had good cover in the backline with players like Lee Smith able to step in when injuries occur.
I'm not sure if Vickery can play a lot better but surely if he was any good he would have played in the NRL. I think vickery would be better at full back where speed isn't a requirement and this would allow Watkins to the wing to add more of a threat to our right hand side.

Clarkson (and McShane) has every right to be annoyed at McDermott's selection-of-his-favourites policy.

I've not really seen Watson, saw him on Boxing Day where he had a shocker but people are saying normally he is a very good player and deserves a chance. I think Mac is more worried of damaging Vickery's confidence if he drops him than giving Watson a chance.
I do not think Chisolm is anywhere near the required standard. Keinhorst has experience of playing full back for Otley at national league level and I believe it suits him better as he is more power and footwork than speed and he is good at chiming in to the line with good distribution. Although it sounds like Watson deserves an opportunity at full back first.
Now we've played the tougher sides I'd like to see Ablett link back up with Moon and Hall and Keinhorst given a good chance in the centres. He is strong defensively, a strong runner and a wingers man.

| At least half Vickery's problem is Ablett, who seems intent on making his return to the second row permanent this time.

not agreeing with this one< keinhorst defence is much better certainly in the and he also knows how to open space for his team mates, still missing from our stand in Ablett, although steady and doing what he can Ablett is not an attacking
On a development aspect vickery is on a years contract, keinhorst on three, surely it would be better to get Keinhorst some more games for the longer term.
Regardless we won so all good

If, instead of being annoyed, they performed a bit better on the occasions when they did get a chance they might actually make McDermott have to think a bit harder when picking a team.
