| after attending every final since 92 today will be my last. i'm sick to death of coming away having had the game spoilt by drunken, foulmouth people who insist on spoiling it for everyone else.
i witnessed it all today. fighting, beer throwing the lot.
4 twentysomething leeds fans behind me spilt pint after pint, smoked, never stopped swearing from start to finish and generally were absolute pricks.
one other leeds fan was threatened when he had words and i had to step in and tell them in no uncertain words to behave or else.
its every big game you go to nowadays. internationals or finals and i've had enough.
speaking to people around me, not only leeds fans but mainly rhinos, and they felt the same.
decent people like to have a pint and watch the game but something needs to be done. at least at football its controlled. even if leeds get there next year i won't go. my grandson is nearly 2 and in time i would loved to have taken him to wembley but i wouldn't subject him to what is regularly taking place inside grounds

Join the club, 2006 is the last final I went to and I don't see the point in paying a lot of money and going to a lot of trouble to travel to London, Cardiff etc just to end up watching the game surrounded by the sort of people that you'd actually avoid by a long distance if you only could - and worse still , having stewards who are unwilling or incapable of controlling such behaviour.
The smart answer is that you should pay more money, but I'm not willing to pay getting on for £100 to guarantee a seat where my neighbours can control their aggression - not when I have a much better and far more civilised view on my own TV set in my own house = or even at any of my local pubs where at least the landlord will have a word with anyone who steps out of line.

| The simple thing is to go to a steward, point them out, or a Police officer if one is available. I did have a similar incident with Wakefield fans, asked them to stop, got threatened, and then told them I had filmed them on my phone, and sent it to my son at home, which showed them making foul and abusive comments, threats of violence, and racist remarks, I told them if they carried on any more it was getting sent to the Police, and the club, funny enough they crapped themselves and kept very quiete. I didnt even have a phone, but it did the trick.

| One of the main reasons for this appaling behaviour is that the RFL have started giving clubs outside SL at least a number of Cup Final tickets in lieu of their prize money for the competitiion. Invariabley these are the tickets for the top tier and end up getting discounted just to get rid of them. Low and behold the idiots buy them cheap and spend the rest on booze and ruin decent folks' days out.
Let's get back to giving clubs the money they've won and selling tickets at face value, it will pay in the long run.
Pugwash.

| Block 134 behind the sticks Leeds end 6 rows from front I witnessed goading, foul venomous language, spitting beer throwing pushing shoving and punching on two occasions by grown men in thier 40/50's
First instance where a guy in a red England Rl shirt actually got thrown out but it took 10 mins for this to happen and after all the above had happens end prior to any stewards reacting. Some Leeds fans 5 rows further back really don't help theirselves by throwing beer and spitting, all of which never got to the person intended but sprayed the innocent victims with families between.
Then at the end of the game more pushing and shoving. Stewards were informed and did nothing other than watch and stare!
As others have mentioned this behaviour is more frequent in the big games. But the stewards really don't help the situation.
The RFL should think about stop serving beer during games as its becoming a bind, up and down all game for people wanting toilets and more beers. Ruining others day expiernce!

| I was embarrassed to be a Leeds fan today. I took my 4 year old son for the first time & we had a lovely day wandering round London and seeing the sights in the morning. Seeing the state of many "fans" walking up Wembley Way left me hoping we ended up sat around reasonable people.
Fortunately, we did however about 10 rows in front behind the posts was the beer throwing and fighting mentioned earlier. So much for a family game. MY wife and son would have been scared stiff if we'd been stuck in the middle of that.
I will never understand people who get so drunk before a game that they won't remember it afterwards - what is the point. You are spoiling the enjoyment for the majority who are there.
I hope the culprits are identified by the club and punished but I won't hold my breath.

| Football is controlled because you can only drink beer on the concourse and not in the ground.
The RFL fail with this. And it is funny you started this thread because I said the exact same thing on way home. Beer should not be drunk in the ground. People can just not handle it.
We were sat in front of a drunken family of foul mouthed scrotes, who would not stop there little crap of a child constantly a mega phone pile of junk, which ended with him copying the dad and swearing through it.

| It's not just alcohol in the ground. Some of these people are so drunk when they arrive there is no way they should be let in.
I'd love the RFL to be strong and say anyone severely under the influence of alcohol will be refused admission - it won't happen though.

| Why am I surprised at this topic?
I posted this below from C Cup final 2010
Sad day when I say that alcohol shouldn't be sold at matches but I really fear for the day when it all kicks off and, for once, we as RL sport finally appears on the BBC News and front pages in the press for all the wrong reasons.

| ***This is not a let's have a go at Leeds we've been bad enough with Warringtonnfans***
3 Leeds adult fans in their 30's - 40's were in block 111 row 3 or 4 when you scored the fan in the middle tured around and stick 2 fingers in the face of a 15-16 year old lad and started shouting fu know the rest. Stewards stood and watched until a group of fans entered the row to advise him of his conduct. Good enough he left after 65 mins. Wish I took his photograph. Will take the matter up with the RFL.
Great game and played to the end. Good luck for the rest of the season.

| Warrington fans were bad where I were sat.
Had a dig at 2 young kids enjoying the day with thier parents cos they had rhino's shirts on, then 2 of them challenged a lad in his late-teens to a fight, credit to the lad, he ignored them, another pint went flying, and finally of the idiots fell down across 2 rows of seats.
The answer, ban alcohol sales altogether.

| This is clearly not an issue for one club. It's a huge problem for the game and society in general. Too many fans of all clubs are more interested in getting drunk and making tits of themselves than they are in the game or the enjoyment of the people around them.
It's very easy to blame stewards but if people had a bit of common sense the stewards wouldn't be necessary.
On a positive note I saw lots of RL fans in central London today doing the game proud - spoke to some lovely Leigh fans in Trafalgar Square!

| The whole thing has turned full circle. I am a person in my 30s who has a season ticket at my club but also regularly attends football matches (and now prepares to be shot down in flames). Ive heard for so long about our sport being a family game. Those days are gone, I can honestly say that behaviour in the ground at football is far better than in RL games (moreso for big games). I have personally encountered problems at International games, Grand Finals, and CC Cup finals. Ive seen supporters of the same club fighting amongst themselves at Wembley last year, and Ive been threatened in the toilets at a GF. This sort of behaviour does not go on inside football grounds nowadays. The sport has taken action in terms of policing, stewarding, and alcohol sales.
If this is a family sport, why would people now choose to either not take their kids, or not bother going at all?

| Lot of worse for wear cricket fans at the t20 yesterday but not one ounce of trouble. Party atmosphere. All the Sussex fans stayed even though we'd knocked em out and had a ball!
Gutting to read this thread but No doubt that ale should not be sold during the game in my view. Whether it will make any difference is another matter as how some make it through the turnstile is a scandal in itself

No think your completely wrong.
Leeds have had plenty of practice losing in the challenge cup final.
It isn't just a Leeds problem it's a game problem. Saw and heard fans of Leeds, cas, saints, wire all drunk and swearing. I think it's luck of the draw where you sit if you have a decent game. 2007 sat in Leeds end when we won was one of the worst experiences of Chavs at rugby.
I really don't know why some waste their money coming to the game. On wembley way before the game there were for example 3 Leeds blokes who could hardly string words together that drunk. And 4 Warrington women (using the word loosely) drunk and one of them was behind one of the food stalls with a tent round her ankles (don't think they do knickers that big) having a pee infront of everyone.
As for the football fan. I am also a Leeds utd fan, but rugby and football are completely different. Don't see many bricks being thrown after games at headingley. You just have to look at the amount of police at football grounds as appose to the amount at rugby to see which game has the more problems.
Foul and abusive chanting is more normal at football for me than rugby
