| Very nice. Seating down both touchlines, behind both ends it's standing, so I preusme we'll be in one of those areas.
The 'famous' Knowlsey Road atmosphere was mentioned again.

| Away end is the East Stand standing terrace. That is the stand to the right as you come out of the tunnel. Stand Holds 4K. Looks great.

It's amazing how much space you can create by not having a trophy room.

I heard that they would be using a live version of Google Earth to track all passes from opposing teams via sattelite and feed the information straight into Eddie Hemmings earpiece (or ringpiece, I can't be sure which). It will of course turn off when they have the ball.

| I think the crux of the argument is such, we waited was it 90 years? to build the Carnegie stand with mucho cash backing from Carnegie and had in the pipeline a bigger, shiny version of that for our new Southstand, which due to other outside influences can now not be built. Are we up to the 3rd or 4th draft now? and folk still are not happy. Why build a new stand of an inferior calibre when Leeds are determined to get their own way, one way or another.

Now it's Saints who are winning not very much but I think we probably have the best RL ground in the country.
Hopefully our shiny new pot cabinet will start to fill up again next season.
At present I think it's only going to be holding the Chairman's beer glass.

| Probably not, but today Colin Graves the Chairman & de facto Chief Exec of Yorkshire County Cricket Club has finally sold his remaining shares in Costcutter to Bibby's (I believe). That would mean he has the resources to now buy the cricket side at Headingley.
I wonder if GH & Caddick are hopeful that he'll also buy the rugby side as well with a view to redevloping the whole complex for cricket?
Of course he may well choose to do neither.

| Just seen it on SSN it looks very good, just one question have they actually put a full size pitch in rather than the postage stamp that they had at KR?

You could buy an old car to fit all the hub caps on?
Seriously though, always good to see the game being played in better facilities.

Yup, standard size pitch.
The posts are from Knowsley Road. I think that's all there is left which has any connection to our previous home.

It's an unbelievable stadium. Pictures don't do it justice. And the landscaping around it is fantastic. On a hot day before a match I can see a lot of drunken rugby fans lazing around on the grass verges, periodically raiding the massive Tesco Express next door.

Might have to do that, from what I remember of St Helens there's not a great deal in the way of boozers around the ground.

If that was to happen and he did buy out the rugby league stadium,He would have a hell of a struggle on his hands to get planning permission to do any major building, judging by leeds rl having to modify the original plans for the Southstand, but who would he buy the cricket side from?I though YCC had already bought it from Caddick with the help of a big loan frm LCC

The new stadium is under 10 mins walk from the town centre and main railway station, where there are lots of pubs and even the odd restaurant or two
More adventurous types making a day of it could head to Liverpool, then get the 7pm train from Liverpool Lime street, this would get you to St.Helens central for about half past seven, 10 minutes to then stagger into the new ground and jobs a good un.
Moving forward a few years and the journey times from Liverpool are likely to drop to 15-20 mins because the line is being electrified. Hence Inter city trains will possibly stop at the station on journeys from Liverpool upto Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Something similar is happening of course on the Liverpool to Manchester line, which serves trans pennine trains, and both St.Helens Junction and Lea Green railway stations sit on this line. They are within about 25 minutes walk from the new stadium, and if you dont fancy the walk there are plenty of buses that stop at the stations and which will pass by the new stadium on their way to the town centre bus station, which itself is again only 5-10 mins walk from the new ground.

Langtree Park is at the other end of town from Knowsley Road. The stadium is now about a 10 min walk (max) to the town centre where there are plenty of pubs and restaurants. Especially Chinese restaurants, for some reason.

| After leaving Uni my first job was working for Pilkington's in St Helens.
My digs were right at the back of Greenall Whitley's brewery in the middle of St Helens.
The stench on a Monday when they were brewing was dreadful especially if I'd had a skinful the night before.
I do hope for that reason that the brewery has now gone otherwise the ground might suffer from that whiff on a Friday evening.
Does "The Bears Paw" cafe still exist.
I spent ages looking for the "Burrs Paw" when I first went to St Helens.
PS I think the new ground looks really good & I'm looking forward to going there next season.
