Weller Hauraki has been linked with Leeds
and we are meant to be closing in on a prop from the NRL, could it be JWH??

| I'd take Hauraki in an instant, been a big player for Crusaders. He outplayed our forward pack at Headingley.
JWH would be an excellent signing but it's probably not him.

Not sure. Try scoring version of JJB who misses more tackles and makes more errors.'"
The raw materials are undoubtedly there though. On the flipside he's given away less penalties, and the difference in the error count is negligible. A different seasons stats may tell another story.
From what I've seen of him he looks a dangerous player with ball in hand. Not seen enough to make much further comment though.

| Hauraki reminds of Poching in many ways and no doubt would improve in our squad but we'd still need another "go forward" prop aswell and if we sign both then fine but harauki isn't a top drawer replacement for Eastwood on his own.

| Leeds could really do with more forwards who really hit the line hard. Too many of our pack are 'solid' and don't ask questions of the defence. With Eastwood gone we only have Ali (if fit) who opposing defences struggle to stop. We need the likes of Peacock, Ablett, JJB, Clarkson etc, but if you're being honest its no surprise none of our 'real' forwards (prop/second row) have been picked for England.
The one who I've been a little disappointed with this year is Ablett. He was playing well early doors, but for someone with the basic tools of a bit of size and speed and seemingly enough nous to run the right angle, he just doesn't stretch the defence often enough yet.

Any news/gossip down under as to who the NRL prop is that we are supposed to be in for?

| Hello guys, I think this is my first contribution.....for quite a while anyway.
As a Rhinos fan living in Sydney and also supporting the Roosters.....I can squash the rumours about Jared Waerea Hargreaves....he's contracted at the roosters for at least the next year, and probably a long time after that.
Weller Hauraki? Not even sure where he's playing these days....he sort of dropped off the radar.
There have been very few rumours over here regarding anyone moving to Leeds......maybe once the 4 Nations starts, there might be a whisper or two.....
The whole Eastwood thing has been very quiet too.....maybe because of the Grand Final, or maybe the Dogs haven't made it official yet.

| To stand a chance next season we need 2 big no nonsense forwards. Far too many times last season we were getting put on our backs and losing the collision every time. Im glad we've been linked with 2.

Means nothing. Leeds flash some $$$$$ and they can get what they want. Leeds know it won't be easy to replace Eastwood. We we're also well short in the forwards departments last season. Our rivals have also strengthened there packs further for 2011. Its very important Leeds get the right people otherwise next season could well mirror the one that has just past.

Sorry pal your wrong Hargreaves does not have a contract for next year.

Yes. It was surprising actually, how Ablett went. He came roaring back after his early season layoff and really looked class. Dissapointing work rate and not as tidy as usual. Became almost anonymous by the end of the season.

| I noted on Sky Sports News this morning that Ewan Dowes is dithering over a new contract at the KC - is he still seeing that cheerleader from the Radio Aire dance team?
Also, I noted that Calderbank is on the move again - great work by his agent back in 2005! Perhaps a replacement for Scott Donald?

GH is either there already or on his way apparently, presumably business is at least part of the trip.

| The other rumour I heard was that Sam Burgess wanted to join the Rhinos - but a la Saints Wigan (Mickey Higham I think went via the Bulls) they wouldn't let him join us. In steps Russell Crowe, we'll have him off you - then sell him to Leeds a season or two later.

Could potentially have been one of the greats at Leeds. I won't forget him pushing a young (and apparantly speedy) Lee Smith out of the way to run down and tackle a flying Widnes player. Faster than he looked (and he looked fast), strong and a solid tackler with a great workrate. Not only did he score tries, but he made it bloody difficult for teams to go the length of the field against us.
That's the way things turn out sometimes. He made a choice, the club made a choice. Injury prone now, and not required IMO.

Totally agree with his cover tackling - he on many occasions gave opposition players a good head start and caught them.

Agreed. Not sure what happened to Ablett - definitely not as effective after he returned from injury. It wouldn't surprise me if he came back too soon. If not, his progress is very disappointing. I always felt that he had the tools to effectively become our new Gareth Ellis, now he just looks like another body making up the numbers. Hopefully we'll see a return to form after a good off-season.

Sorry mate, Hargreaves DOES have a contract for next year......would he really move from Manly for a one year deal??
As far as Eastwood goes, I know he's back over here.....all I'm saying is, there's been very little information regarding his signing for the Dogs.....they just signed 3 other new players including a second rower and are struggling with the cap a bit.
Try taking a look at their website.......zero about Eastwood.
