| You can see why teams run a lot of traffic at McGuire from those stats, even leaving aside the energy it is supposed to take out of his legs when he does have the ball.
Another big shift from JP marred only slightly by another couple of dumb, clumsy penalties.

| Was about to comment on JJBs great effort then I saw peacocks. Wow they're good stats.
Much improved from Kirke this week as well, heighst m/carry of all the forwards, and good number of tackles without a miss

Easy to acheive with a pathetic six hit ups. Six. In the entire game. Six.
Tremendous efforts from Peacock and JJB, not to mention Ambler.

I'd be interested to see his gametime, seemed to me watching on Sky that he didn't get as many minutes this week as he has been doing previously.

JJB definately missed at least 2 tackles. But that's opta for you. The missed tackles is unfortunatley a common theme that is really not quite improving.
Where would we be without Peacock last few weeks? gee that is immense.
Kind of backs up my own MOM order which was Peacock, Ambler, and Buderus.

Hmmmm. I though he got same amount of game time. Still managed 21 tackles. Fair play. I suppose whilst he's shirking the ball and his team mates are doing his defensive work he can keep himself fresh to make some tackles. Mind you, I bet nobody felt any of them.
Softcock.

| Like all stats Gotcha, they're meaningless without definition.
Unless we know how Opta classify what a missed tackle actually is (if you make a poor read and take the wrong man, is that a miss or is it only a miss if you get a hand on the player and don't complete the tackle?) then you can't say whether they are right or wrong.

Accepted that. The two I was saying for JJB though were in the second half with Saints on their own line. I was in the Carnegie and can see it clearly, that he actually had an hand on the player and fell off. Not that they were in anyway damaging for us, because Saints were on their line. I suppose more of concern is that should that have been an additional 2 to add to the 21, which should concern McClennan.

His sideburns certainly get on my pecks, but unlike Saints fans I am not a racist, i know who is who. So yes, JJB definately fell off the tackle twice in Saints 20 in the second half.
I could say maybe Opta have a racial problem and have credited Bailey with those 2, but the 2 misses credited there we could not argue with.

The 21 missed tackles are below Leeds' season average to date of 23.4
McClennan may see that as a positive sign.

| It's an improvement on the last two performances.
Although not shown above, Leeds' marker tackles hit a season high of 65 as St Helens recorded the second highest number of scoots from dummy half (51), a figure only topped by Noble's Crusaders (57) at Headingley a couple of games ago.

| Just to add to what G1 said about Kirke doing most his work in defence.
I think Phil Clarke picked up on one big thing Kirke did which was to pressure Leon Pryce early on in the second half and force a poor kick which led to us having field position and I think may have led to one of our tries.
As Peacock said against Wigan in the cup, if you can't make a difference by scoring tries, make a difference by doing something to lift the team in defence, he did it against Wigan with the tackle on Tomkins to force a poor kick, Kirke did it on Friday with his effort to pressure Pryce.

No wonder he didn't do much if he played on Friday night as well as Saturday night. He should stick to one game a week

| But I thought according to some Saints fans Peacock was shocking, and (correct me if I'm wrong SaintsFan) was a walking corpse?
Clearly some of them have been to the same optician as Uruguayan referees.

I've never been a great fan of the charge down as they seem to result in another set of six to the kicking side more often than not.
Of course when that doesn't happen it's a great tactic and a good observation by Clarke re Kirke on this occassion.

| Of Course Kirke goes to pressure the kicker. It means he is out of the next set and doesn't have to take a drive in. Hence the six, yes six, drives on Saturday.
I can't believe he's being defended for such laziness by rejoicing that he stuck his arms in the air on the sixth tackle and got noticed by the d1ckead who said Saints were more skillful than Leeds.

Kirke charged down two kicks in the opening six minutes of the second half. They gained Leeds attacking field positions for the following sets. Unfortunately McShane butchered the first of these with a coach killing 'glory' scoot on the last and Eastwood the second with a poor offload.
Single digit 'hit up' figures isn't that unusual for some of Leeds' forwards.
Carl Ablett has done this 7 times in his 11 Appearances so far this season.

I wasnt rejoicing. I was infact adding to the fact you had mentioned his extra work in defence compared to attack on P1 of the thread
