Further complicated by the fact that Yorks play Lancs at Headingley in the 4 day LVCC game starting on Sat. I can get to go to both matches regardless of the day.

I understand that they would want to play the match Bank Holiday weekend to get the crowds in but when Rhinos could have a possible CC QF that weekend and the likelihood of it being on TV, sounds like a quiet build-up to the match again.

Totally agree. Someone didn't think this through, did they? Was a total nightmare last time this happened and the atmosphere was next to nothing. Having said that, maybe we should just face facts...we are, and always will be, second to the cricket.

Just checking back and it was exactly 2 years ago to the weekend. We played Wigan in the QF of the CC in 2008 at the same time Yorkshire were starting a CC game against Lancashire.

I'm guessing YCC would say why should we move probably the biggest money-making domestic championship game of the season from a Bank Holiday weekend on the off chance that

a) Rhinos are still in the Cup by the QF
b) They get a home draw
c) They get a match that will be televised.

Frustrating but I bet financially, taking into account hospitality etc, the takings over the 3 days of the cricket would be more than a one off Rhinos game.

True, but does the cricket bring in as much money as the rugby does, across the year? I don't know, but I doubt it.

Show the game Friday night on BBC1 - great compromise

Might they make our match an evening match? Then the cricket might be (nearly) over?

6pm on BBC2 on a Saturday evening compared to 3pm on BBC1. I doubt the BBC would make that scheduling change.

I doubt they will do anything about it in all honesty, just a suggestion. I for one will not be sitting in near silence though (how they can ask for that at a rugby match is beyond me), whether the cricket is on or not.
