Can be a pretty smug cloud going into the season as three in a row champions. After that win at Old Trafford and the great preseason we’ve had it seemed that we would have the most invincible season yet. Thankfully Castleford have took that away.

Only Kylie Leuluai was rested but its no excuse because we had Burgess and Peacock playing. I wouldn’t call resting players last week arrogant - sensible. After all Wigan have took Crusaders to the cleaners tonight as well.

The fact that a full strength, with the exception of Leuluai, Leeds team lost to Cas proves that super league will be wide open this season, and nothing is certain.

Hopefully it will be but I’m an experience super league fan now to know what will happen. Leeds will still get to the Grand Final but for the first time I’m unsure about us winning it. After all its the one off games where its all open and not consistency. Something a majority of super league teams don’t have.

Most of us want an open competition , though we do usually put that sentiment aside when it is our respective team that is the one beaten.

Smith was good in 04 and getting it right in 07. 2005 and 2006 were frustrating years as a Rhinos fan. I prefer it under Bluey totally!

On paper Leeds should win the Grand Final and every rugby league match they play in. But that’s not always the case. If I’m wrong I’m wrong I’d be willing to accept that. I have faith in this Rhinos side to do well this season. To win the Grand Final however could be a big ask but its achievable.

I don’t feel humbled at all, we’re ‘three in a row’ champions. Even if we fall flat on our a[size=100r[/sizeses this season no-one can take that away from us.

And it’ll be a cold day in Hell when Cas will top that.

think it just goes to show how competitive this season will be, to call it a shock is excessive. even last season leeds only won at cas in the last seconds as they did at wakey too.

the fact is the pack are closing in on leeds and saints albeit gradually. individual results like this will be plentiful again this season i reckon.

the days when you looked at the fixtures and wrote off certain games as un winnable are already a thing of the past

I had texts from 2 Cas fans last night, both of whom were happy to call it a shock. I'd agree that SL is getting tighter and the top teams will lose more games than we saw in the past, but we're still a long way off a truly level playing field.

Oh, and Leeds also beat Wire in the last second, and lost away at Catalans in the last play of the game.
