Long was outstanding tonight. Both in attack and defence. Lets hope he doesn't spend next Saturday aft signing books, because it seems to work for him.

Three or four 50/50 calls (and I'm being generous describing them as such) probably decided the game and all of them went in favour of the home referee ..... oops I mean home team.

Really? His passing was woeful and his last tackle plays (bar his "try"icon_wink.gif were dreadful, very similar to the game at Headingley. The pass to Meli to score was actually behind him, if Amos Roberts hadn't decided to not just move in, but to also run up the pitch for no reason it would have been up to Meli to make up for Long's average pass.
He did defend very well, as all the Saints team did.

On the topic of defence, nice to see Leon Pryce has been watching and learning from videos of the "Billy Slater" method for stopping players grounding the ball over the try line. He's not quite got it right though - he missed kicking Richards' head off.

Well it wasn't Pryce, Cunningham or Roby that controlled that game for Saints. Long showed he knew what type of game it was and played to that type of game.

I think you have to make an allowance for Richards having kicked the ball there. If Richards had simply carried the ball and Pryce had tried to stop in in that way, then the kick was deserviing of punishment.

Longy played a blinder tonight and he showed his old devious scrum half ways again. We haven't seen that Longy all season.

I wondered about that at the time but Richards had kicked the ball forward before Pryce came in feet first.

Ours was fine at OT last year AND it was raining!!!!!!

I expected that game to be more intense than ours but it was surprisingly about 3 notches down.

Sadly, we won't have Amost Roberts to pick on next week but we will have to make do with Gardner and Meli.

Two wingers who can be very weak under kicks, that Wigan didn't get at enough.

I was impressed by Feka (I'm not going to try to spell Palleaseana) tonight - a handful of marker tackles, not got at much at all. Apart from when Long got outside of him for the try, but he'd have done that to most forwards.

Impressed because he wasn't a defensive liability for once. You're easily impressed.

What else impressed you from Fekka's ten minutes tonight?

Seriously, despite the absence of linebreaks, he always took at least three defenders out of the play to stop him, quicker PTBs than the rest of the Wigan front row and AFAIR didn't commit a turnover at all.
He's the player every team has picked on to expose either at marker or in the line, and wasn't tonight.
