He's a millionaire, he'd still put money on it.

| Why didn’t he show his prediction before the draw?
He gave some bollox about only the BBC being able to show the winning numbers first but the balls that Derren had his predictions on were just that, predictions. The draw hadn’t taken place at that point therefore they were not the winning numbers just a prediction.
How could he have been in contravention of any ‘rules’ by showing the numbers that he though would be drawn?
I was very impressed but I would have been more impressed if we’d seen his prediction before the draw.

I suspect that is the key to the trick... still bloody impressive though, given it was all in one shot with one camera!

That's because he doesn't actually predict the numbers.
He's not a psychic. The trick is in the mis direction and showmanship.

You wouldn't have been able to do anything about it anyway if they had shown the prediction in the half hour before the draw when ticket sales cease - "Mystic Meg" anyone ?
There is no such thing as "magic", nor an ability to predict the future.

| This was mulling through my mind last night and the ONLY way that this could have been done is to put the numbers on his 'prediction balls' post event.
Now there is photo-sensitive paint and also thermal-sensitive pint. Coat the 'prediction balls' with either and somehow (this bit I've not fully grasped yet) project the drawn numbers on to these balls – bingo, a one in fourteen million prediction.

| From what i have seen of Darren Brown he always makes predictions in writing and then reveals them afterwards.
Me, personally, cannot take the guy serious until he predicts something verbally before the event has happened.

That would include saying his prediction aloud infront of his subject, It would also include him actualy being magic.

As others have said, that because it is a trick of mis-direction or showmanship... he is not a real Harry Potter!
I think I have worked out how he done it though... and it is quite simple (if I am of course even close to being right!).

The camera does play tricks. In fact half of the show was indeed a live feed, and then if you watch closely the camera wobbles a little for a second and it switches to what's probably a pre-recorded feed.
The guy's full of s**t!

Arghh, but was it broadcast live? When the BBC say it is a live lottery draw, do they mean it is been broadcast live or is it just live in front of the audience at the BBC?
I think the fact that he did not turn the numbers round because he said the BBC have the legal right to broadcast the lottery result first might be the key.
It was not a prediction, it was the result, and that what the legal issue!
I could of course be totally wrong, but that is where my mind is taking me.
He also does use plenty of 'tricks' but never 'camera tricks' so I don't think that was how he did it!

So he says but can you remember his show on how to win at the races? All he did really was show you that one women winning all the way through, convince you he was great, and then told you the most obvious thing, they had thousands of people betting on all the options and she was the one that was 'lucky' enough to win every race!
