Surely the RFL should of checked all the relevent paperwork was in place before registering these players!!!

IIRC I was very supportive of Widnes when their bid was rejected on here. I don't recall anyone else offering much support.

The Crusaders clearly were not ready. They're likely to change grounds after 1 season, this debacle and their financial problems. Widnes should've been brought in and the crusaders been invited to apply the next time around.

No sympathy Leeds. The league leaders shield is there for the taking.

this match means very little unless we draw with Saints

On paper the task may look easier but this could go one of two ways:

1) Celtic throw the towel in and feel sorry for themselves and they just implode from here.

2) Could galvanise the coaching staff and players that are left to turn in super human performances creating a kind of siege mentality.A wounded beast is often a very dangerous beast.

As has been pointed out on another thread,lets not go down there expecting a 40 plus point win just because of what we did to Cas and now the players Celtic are going to have out.

It means we can overtake them before we play them, depending upon the scoreline.

That is all it means though.

Or unless we lose to Saints but they lose to Hudds or Catalans and it comes down to Points difference....

What if we beat Saints and Celtic but lose to Salford while Saints beat Hudds and Catalans?

Could mean a lot if Giants beat them on Friday and we post a healthy score, having a 2 point advantage and superior points difference when we meet. Psychological advantage maybe?

I think it's going to be very interesting over there friday, they might just decide they want to regain that bit of momentum rather than going to Wembley on the back of 2 defeats.

If a team has played ineligible players throughout the season all result have to be null and void.

If the RFL were to do that, they'd have to look at the salary cap breaches of 2005, and other years as well.

This didn't happen in the past when teams have broken the salary cap or fielded cup-tied players, so I don't see why it should apply now.

They weren't ineligible to play - they were registered with the RFL at the time, who had accepted that registration on the basis of their contracts with Celtic Crusaders.

They were subsequently found to have committed an immigration offence, and by extension so have the club in employing them without the correct paperwork. It doesn't make their registrations with the RFL null and void.

You might have to find some different straws to clutch at.
