| Good news, been fantastic since he came to Leeds and I'm sure GH will have done a good deal to virtually see out his career at Leeds.
He may have been a bit out of form over the past few weeks but nothing too alarming.

| My favourite Prop forward that I’ve seen play for Leeds. What a relief he has signed a new deal.

It has always been a quiet ambition of Andy Lynch to play in Australia. He could be too old now of course. But I’d love to see him at Leeds although we really don’t need him!

Agree with Kirke and Smith, wouldn't be heartbroken if Ablett goes

| It's always pleasing to see player retention IMO. Balanced squads seem to do the business.
If I review Kylies career at Leeds it is great news.
But without needing to be negative, his current seasons form hasn't been of the same level as the previous two seasons. Maybe he's just waiting to peak at the right time. I hope so.
We saw a crunching Kylie hit on Tuesday, but I want to see more of them. He is a unique Rhinos prop and has a strong under belly no doubt, never shirks and it just shows how good his previous form has been, because now he just looks a bit quiet. I hope he turns it on again.
The only nagging feeling is the length of the contract. I'm not sure his current form warrants a 2 year deal. Maybe we had to throw that deal at him to secure his services. If he recreates his previous 2 seasons at HQ, then fine. But 2 more years of Kyie on current form, could make for a long ride. I'd have given him a 1 year deal.
In relation to his age, no doubt some may question that. I don't think it matters with his game. Short, sharp, bursts. He is rarely sidelined through injury (touch wood) and vastly strong.
I just want to see him with that bit between his teeth again.

without dragging the whole Ablett argument up again, who would you replace such an important squad member with?

| Two and a half years would suggest it's an improvement on his current contract effective immediately, rather than just a continuation of the one which expires at the end of the season...

or alternatively, Leeds said the only way we will offer more than 1 year is if it starts now and its a 10% reduction?
Truth is only Leeds and Kylie will know...

Given the cap position Leeds are in (which is pretty much public knowledge) and the rumoured interest from elsewhere for 2010, if he took a pay cut then he wants to think about changing agents.

I think another quality prop would be a good addition to the squad. I thought the major reason Leeds were so dominant in 04 was the pack rotation of Bailey, McDermott, Feather, McDonald and Ward. They were kept fresh and it resulted in great years particularly for Bailey and Ward. 2 props starting, 2 on the bench. Magic.
Only having 4 recognised props I feel sometimes hurts us. Kylie, Peacock, Bailey, Scruton and Burgess was a good combination last year and was used in a similar, but less effective, way to the 04 bunch, but the lack of a replacement for Scruton I feel lets us down.
Glad Leuluai is back though. Worth the money for some of his tackles alone.

I think it is more likely though, given the length.
Peacock did the same thing earlier this season. If Leeds increased Kylies salary, then they are not doing a good job.

| Maybe I am swimming against the tide here but unless something improves in his game I think this is a poor move unless he has taken a reduction to stay?
His overall contribution is pretty small given his lack of stamina - we all seem in agreement that the forwards have been unable to lay the necessary platform this season but we give one of them - perhaps the weakest of all a contract extension - doesn't add up to me unless he is cheap.

I too think it is a poor move.
But I am pretty confident it will be on reduced terms.
Would still have rather gone out and got Lynch though.

I would agree and a change of environment would do him the world of good - the other guy who I would think would do well from a change would be Scarsbrooke at Harlequins.

| For the good of the game in London, that's exactly where Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook should remain.
He's an example to young kids in that area of what can be achieved even if you come from a non-heartland area.

Even if you had to pay through the nose in terms of a transfer fee and salary?
Sadly in the real world these sorts of concerns get in the way of playing Fantasy Super League...

| Although I disagree with them, I can see where DISA and Eccleshill are coming from on this. My opinion is that it would be far more disruptive if Leuluai left Leeds, and that he will be far more effective if rotated on a larger roster of forwards. Had Eastwood materialised, I think we wouldn't be making as big a deal about the forwards not laying a platform.
Has there been any further news on Eastwood by the way? Are people still expecting him to be with us next season? If so I'd be happy enough with our squad, provided Smith, Ablett and Kirke all stay on as well. If he doesn't come I'd be very disappointed if we don't sign another quality forward.
