| Keeping reading in the press that he is coming to Leeds, is there any truth in this and if so I think it would be a positive signing, still need a half back and a prop forward.

If Pearson told them lot he could walk on water they would believe him.

Give over, he's far above workhorse. Much classier than what we have.

Don't think he is. But finally showing his promise, and would be a useful addition.

Overhyped Cas player - he has never delivered on his earl promise. Very disruptive individual who still has a lot of growing up to do. Not in the same class as Ablett, not technically as good ball in hand, doesn't read the game as well and his defence leaves much room for improvement.

| I well remember what was expected of him at Cas, & how Chase apparently led him astray. I've no idea of his current off-field habits but he is probably the most valuable back rower in the game, given his age, only Ferres is on par. I agree he is not in the same class as Ablett, he is one above. Ablett is a very good player mind, I would have been happy with both in the back row for England.

| What is Westerman though? He's not a damaging runner with ball in hand. He's not a defensive workhorse. He's not a ball-playing pivot.
He's typical of the current generation of English back-rowers, who have been coached to be a bit of everything and ended up being nothing in particular. A potential talent wasted.

| Forced to agree. If we're to spend big money on a transfer fee and wages - and Westerman would command a hefty salary - I'd rather see it better spent.

He can most definitely be a ball playing pivot and a damaging runner. He has good defence also.
He may well have let his career drop from his own stupidity, but he has certainly turned it around the last 18 months, and a bit unfair to ignore that side.
If he is signed for the 13 shirt, then he is a perfect player to have. Ablett outside him as a running backrower, would be a great combination.

| If this kind of negative attitude and off-field behaviour can be tempered by the good influence of the core team at Leeds like Sinfield and Peacock, he'd definitely be worth a punt IMO. The raw potential is there, and he's still relatively young. There's no guarantee he'll change his ways, but if not he can always follow the route blazed by Thackray, Lee Smith, McShane and others...
In any case, it looks more like desperate rumour mongering to sell papers/get hits, especially since back-row is not an immediate priority for recruitment.

Not necessarily. Nothing wrong with healthy competition in the squad.

Westerman is the third highest tackler in SL, more tackle busts than any forward except Darryl Clark, second in metres made for a back rower, third in SL for carries, second in try assists for a back rower. I’m struggling to see what more you would want from a back rower who is available, especially one with latent talent to burn.

| This is clearly rubbish.
Why would anyone want to leave Hull?
I mean Ellis chose them over us to 'win trophies' and not for the £££ or anything.
Who would want to leave a side that perennially underachieves?

| Shove Delaney up to prop and put Westerman in the back row and our squad would look a lot stronger.

| Although I agree moving Delaney up to prop makes sense, Im not sure if he at the moment could play there week in week out. Especially the way our "machines" are run down to a bloody stump.
