Once again on national TV a refereeing blunder beyond belief !!

Quite clearly Mr Bentham stops the clock and 6 seconds later with the clock stopped the hooter goes and he blows for full time !!

Come on Mr Cummins explain how this can be right your making our game look a mockery !!

Just a question but who governs the time-keepers?

Are they classed as Match Officials and under the jurisdiction of Cummings or are they a separate entity altogether?

Not the ref's fault but the timekeepers.

Just a thought, but maybe when the timekeepers 'stopped' the clock following the referee's signal, the official clock, (not the BBC's) read 80 minutes were complete and so they blew the hooter?

The timekeepers are provided by the clubs.

No fault of the ref, Down to the time keepers at end of the day. Plus the BBC clock is more than likely behind the official time.

The clock on the screen isn't the official time.

The hooter over-rules the referee.

Ok Bentham stops the clock but the hooter sounded. The people that control the hooter have the final say.

A blunder was made but for once it wasnt by the match officials. Bentham was put in a bad position but the hooter sounded to he had to end the game.

But in the Wigan v Hull KR game, the hooter sounded, the ref played on, KR scored and the explanation is they should play to the refs whistle. No consistency as usual.

Agree the video ref in the Wakey game was a joke. the obstruction ruling was ridiculous and then even Brad Drew was surprised to be given a try. Mr Halibut should've gone to Specsavers!

refs claimed not to have heard the hooter

altho today looked a mess going off bbc clocks, the ref was correct. he's not in control of the time, the time keepers (a member from each club) are, the ball had not gone into the scrum, so it was full time.
i doubt the bbc have access to the official time keepers, so most likely the time of the tv/big screen is from a 3rd party timekeeper. so the bbc time is irrelevant to the game, if anyone should looks silly its the BBC not the ref

Also the forward pass rule, i know its been a joke for some time, but king passed it on the 20m line, clarke collected it just short of the 10m line with the ref stood in line. momentum rule? thats some momentum.

It looked alright where Mr Bentham leaned how to referee in Warrington.

That said I don't know how he came up with the 20 metre restart after Briers was tackled into touch early in the game.

defused the kick behind the try line. not sure it was the correct call, as not sure if its in the rule book, but king was behind the try line, it bounced off him so kick is still live, briers then takes the ball.

i don't think it looks good, or it actually what most would describe defusing the kick. so if it isn't in the rule book, then it should be changed to state a clean take

That was the one and I was being obtuse as I know why Bentham gave the ruling even though I didn't agree with it. It may have been a correct call but I'd be surprised if anyone other than King could difuse the bomb in that situation.

The ball never touched the ground so it's irrellevant who it touches. As long as its taken on the full, which it was.

Fair enough if that's what it says in the rules. An unusual circumstance, I can't recall another similar one to refer back to.
