Quote ="KaeruJim"You have to be careful taking the moral high ground when you weren’t present to witness events first hand.
The truth is that some players are idiots and get away with it, others maybe get put it very difficult positions and pay a price, amongst the ones who commit acts they’re rightfully punished for.
RL is played mostly by big, angry, aggressive men who enjoy physical contest. Some can leave that on the field, but most will bubble up especially under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
They are trained never to take a backward step from being young teenagers, and equipped to handle themselves.
You won’t know what level of provocation the player has been exposed to or the context around events. Let the courts do their job where necessary but you don’t need to hang draw and quarter everyone who has bad press. Chances are there are plenty of players you’re willing to champion who are actually guilty of worse - you just don’t know about it.'"
Mostly agree, but not that domestic violence is somehow acceptable if there was provocation. I accept these guys are conditioned to be aggressive on the pitch, but they still need to be able to exercise a level of control in the real world.
