It would be rather ironic if we finally signed a quality half back using Watkins cap money, given he's had a decade of sub-standard service.

I didn't say it was a good thing, I think its terrible. I really want him to do well, and if he can get fit he'll surprise a lot of people here.

That doesn't gloss over the fact he was embarrassing last week. As was Hardaker previously. I think Watkins has made a huge mistake in trying to play this year in the NRL. He should have taken some time off then hit off season training hard.

Someone should also talk to these guys about who they sign for. The Titans are a shambles and Ryan Hall signed for a team with a heap of good wingers.

You can literally see him limping round on the Newcastle highlights, not good viewing. Hopefully not related to the big injury but you wouldn't be surprised. A real shame if he had gone 5 years since he could have made a real impact, hopefully he still can.

I understand Leeds went against medical advice when they brought Watkins back this season. He was apparently nowhere near fit and ought to have been on the side lines for at least another 2-3 months before making his comeback.

I wonder if Gold Coast got that advice?

Well he has several months of training ahead again now. Hopefully next season things will look different for him.
