Quote ="lionarmour87"Once went to a charity dinner and the team was there and afterwards we all went back to David Wards place and Roy Powell instead of sitting with the players who by this time a few were carrying on Divorty pretending to blow poisonous darts in Powells direction .Roy Powell sat with us the fans and just said ' yes ok Gary' to Divortys silly racism .Like what has been said he was very polite and quietly spoken and seemed to enjoy our company .The good die young'"
Superb post and one that summed him up perfectly. Possibly the nicest Leeds player ever.
He loved the fans and we had many a good night in his company in the mid-80s when players and fans would de-camp to the Smiths Arms after a Sunday game.
I know for a fact that if the press were struggling to choose a man of the match, the default position was 'give it to Roy' because he could never be faulted for effort.
