Quote ="Sal Paradise"Not sure what your numbers are trying to prove - number of games played compared to intensity and effort in those games. You seem fascinated with meaningless stats. I am only stating what Wane said i.e. the had put too much effort into winning the LLS - he obviously didn't learn anything from 2012 he just got very lucky in 2013.
I am not saying Wigan's way is the way to follow - I am merely pointing out their thought processes regarding squad strengthening and the differences in attitudes. Leeds have issues in a number of positions yet decide to sign a winger where they really didn't need one. For me Bateman would have been a much more appropriate signing than Briscoe.
One thing is for sure O'Loughlin was nowhere near the risk JJB was - if the coach was correct and his ligament was hanging on by a thread that is appalling player welfare - that could have finished his career and impaired his life after rugby. O'Loughlin would have been thoroughly fitness tested prior to both games - he didn't break down in either - you think that was luck I disagree.'"
Wigan are in the fortunate position that they have a lot of quality young players who are probably at the lower end of the salary cap as Leeds were in 2004. The difficulty is as these players are more successful they will demand higher wages and the struggle will be to keep everyone happy while still winning trophies. Something Leeds have done as well as anyone, bar maybe Saints, in the salary cap era.
