Joe Wareham has passed away. He was the only manager directly involved when we first won the championship in 1961 and again in 1969 both of which I remember well and with whom I spent many occassions in rugby discussion. He took on many management roles at Headingley in those part time days when he also taught at Roundhay school.

He taught me at Roundhay. A great teacher with a terrific sense of humour. I liked him tremendously.
Sad news.

He taught me too - Maths as well as Games. In some ways an old fashion schoolmaster who tolerated no nonsense, and was a good mathematician as well as winger (cf Ryan Hall). Always committed, always genuine. RIP Joe Warham, and condolences to his family.
