Quote ="Sal Paradise"As I said you are incapable of comprehending what goes on in front of your eyes - let's be charitable are you short sighted?
I will explain - you want to retain all three half backs - that means Leeds cannot change the way they attack and accomodate all three. I am saying there isn't a side in the elite game that plays with three half backs - the game is too fast a physical now to play the way Leeds play and have played since 2003.
Sinfield was in the YEP last week saying he wants to play 6 - so that could explain McDermott's strange decision to play McGuire at 7 - it begs the question who picks the side?
As I said it should be about evolution not stagnation or even worse regression'"
Oops looks like you've let your true colours slip there SP. The problem with you is for whatever reason you don't like Sinfield and will take whatever opportunity to knock him, question his place in the team, etc.
IMO the problem lays squarely in the fact that the pack we are fielding week in week out is not giving us a platform to let the halfbacks & Sinfield do the job they are on the field to do. Whether this is down to a reluctance by the coaching staff / management to embrace the "wrestling" techniques required in the modern game, a lack of ability in the current players to carry out these techniques or somewhere in between.
Again IMO, I feel that this is the area which needs the greatest shake up next year. There could conceivably be a high turnover of players in the pack next year (IIRC Kirke, Bailey, Burgess, Kylie all OOC, Buderus rumoured to be leaving, Cross' face appearing not to fit - that's 6 players who have all had significant game time this year potentially not being here), added to the fact that we could also be losing 2 of our most experienced backs in Webb and Senior. If this is the case then the last thing I would want to be doing is asking a new half back partnership to come in and try to be successful.
In regards to McDermott, ideally he would be given a chance to succeed with his own squad and players that he has had a hand in recruiting, however, taking into account some of the decisions he has made this year, I am not convinced that I would be comfortable with him being responsible for the number of changes which require making.
