I sent off a young lad this morning for an intentional kick on a tackler. What an example to set Mr Alibert - he may now think he can get away with it!

Thought Clarke was going to suggest 10 mins in the bin for McGuire for possibly causing Tomkins to stub his toe!

McGuire caught Tomkins with an elbow on the chin with his ball carrying arm as the tackle was being made. McGuire for some reason then lashed out from the floor upwards (not sure if any contact was made) and Tomkins retaliated with the kick. Alibert told him to leave the 'knee' out.

Phil Clarke's initial reaction was, "it should be a sin-bin at least." Makes you wonder if he actually thought it could be a sending off (after his Boots 'N All diatribe in midweek over zero tolerance where punching defenceless individuals is concerned.)

Thankfully he realised it was a Tomkins and decided there wasn't anything in it afterall.
