There are other places of accomadation in Cardiff other than the Travelodge, I have a booked a private room in a hostel where i stayed last time it was in cardiff which was surprisngly very comfy and came with a top notch free fry up in the morning for 6 of us working out a £13 each.
Its a simple case of supply and demand. If you want something enough you will have to pay the price that goes with it. They could probably sell the Travelodge out charging a lot more than they are going to over the magic weekend.
