Quote ="Old Feller"You could argue that he was due to how he lifted the other Hull KR player - can't recall who - which caused Fox to run in to remonstrate with him. Lauaki was penalised fo that, not too dissimilar to one jhis tackles on Burrow in the cup game as I recall. The guy's a thug & his opponents know it so no surprise when they come to the aid of their mates.'"
Lauaki was effecting a tackle on the Rovers ball carrier. Fox was not involved in the tackle but caused a potential problem for the officials by pushing/striking Lauaki. Nobody caused Fox to become involved in a situation the referee was either dealing with or about to deal with.
The lifting of the Hull KR player was rightly penalised by Bentham as the tackled player's legs ended above the horizontal. Lauaki having lifted his opponent into a potentially dangerous position took care to return him safely to the ground making Fox's intervention all the more unneccessary.
Shouldn't such instances be left in the hands of the officials to deal with, without players rushing in to remonstrate, potentially causing minor incidents to escalate into more serious ones?
I know the incident you are referring to in the Leeds Cup-Tie but it had nothing to do with Burrow. As you mention him what is your view on Burrow's disciplinary record in recent seasons? Sin-binned twice for fighting and IIRC both times he made the walk unaccompanied by a member of the opposition. Does that also make him a thug in your opinion?
