Quote ="leicester_rhino"I've had a beleif that Leeds have treated the weekly rounds as more like a contested training session than a league to win for a few seasons now.
Last year we had awful disipline, then in August it suddenly changed.
By this point last year we had lost 4 games, and won the league shield by 2 or 4 points (memory fails me). We had 1 defeat in 12 games at the end of the season, followed by the play-offs.
But what many people don't see is that its not a fluke that we put in the best performance of the season in the game that would eliminate us from a competition.
The days of busting out of the traps, leading the league for 6 months then being too knackered to contest the silverware are behind us.
It may not be fair for the loyal fans who pour money into the club, but the club is only interested in winning pots, and have chosen to do this by only taking 5-6 games a season at 100%'"
apart from the over strong 'contested training session' only insiders know the truth but it seems close to the mark
2007 had bad spell midseason , a few injuries but lost to a few teams low in table from a winning position during the game
2008 said concentrating on wcc & slackened off a little to recuperate
2009 no announcement re preparing for wcc but slump afterwards
2010 more injuries than last 3 seasons put together & talk of wanting both cups - probability of having lost a few with a full side ?
i too felt we had a stronger squad on paper unfortunately we play on grass/sand with a third of it missing.
as a season ticket it can feel as if pre paid to be entertained each match but if the plan comes together for october is that moment greater than the sum of the defeats
