Utterly tragic

Four years is a nothing sentence. He will be out in less than four years to carry on his life whilst others mourn and grieve. If the autorities want to curb this needless and sorrowful crime then they need to increase the sentence.

Sadly, I have seen too many young lives ended this way - bit of drink, heavy right foot and - well you know the outcome.

What ever the prison sentance, 4 years or 20 years, it won't stop somebody from driving less eratic or whilst under the influence. Do you really think before entering a car whilst under the influence somebody thinks[i 'Oh its only 4 years...I'll be out in 2, bugger it I'll drive.'[/i People just do not think about the consequences full stop, they think they are invincible and 100% wont crash, thats why they ignore the law.

He also has it on his conscious that his mate is dead because of his actions. That will stay with him forever. I honestly don't think the sentence would influence this behaviour. People simply don't think about the outcomes. This sort of story needs repeating to youngsters at 15/16/17 before they've even set foot in a car.
