When John Holmes was switched to the second row I have a memory of him getting sent off something like twice in three games, can anybody confirm this or is this the failing memory of an old man !!

I'm sure that he once got sent off against Hull KR for an altercation, with i think, Colin Dixon, but i could be wrong

I remember John getting sent off in consecutive games (I think it was) but I'll have to look through some scrapbooks tomorrow to get more details if I have anything in there.

Whether I can turn anything up or not the sending offs were a definate though.

Edit: John Holmes was indeed playing second row for Leeds at that time. He got sent off in consecutive games towards the back end of the 1980/81 season, firstly in the televised Andy Mackintosh home game V Barrow (after a skirmish with Steve Kirkby) and then away at Leigh where he lashed out with his boot at a loose ball and John Woods got in the way. The second being a needless last minute dismissal.

When the disciplinary met John received two matches for the first offence and three for the second (which was reduced to one on appeal) so he served three games in total, which represented his first suspension in his thirteen year career at that point.
