Quote ="reggieboy"Not sure of the dates on these, but 2 away days stand out for me :
First was away at Cas in the Premiership when Schoey scored late to win the game, after being sin binned earlier when he had a try disallowed.
The second was Warrington away, I think it was in the John Gallagher days, when Leeds had made a poor start to the season. No one gave them a chance and considering how many supporters were there from Leeds (not many), it showed.
Anyhow, we won 22-10, I'm pretty sure Simon Irving was playing too, and because there weren't that many fans there we seemed to all huddle together singing out hearts out. It was the first time my Mum had driven me to an away game so it was like travelling in luxury, and even though we took a wrong turn and ended up at Manchester Airport on the way back it didn't matter !!!'"
Yes Irving was playing, IIRC kicked a goal from the touchline. Gallagher scored his first try for us that day. You're right about the low turnout from us as we had made an awful start but we all went mental when Gallagher scored.
Another memorable trip to Warrington was near the end of the 88-89 season. We won 10-8 in a monsoon. I remember us scoring the best try I have ever seen in such apalling conditions. A 90 metre team effort finished by Paul Delaney, I think. He was involved in the move somehwere anyway. John Woods missed about 3 penalty goals in last 5-10 mins to level the game.
