Heard this song playing today and it got me thinking why do we sing this at every home game, it is quite clearly a Leeds Utd song.

I know this subject has been brought up before but I'm done with Bradfords current plight and the franchise system for today.

My guess is apart from the first four lines MOT is a fantastic anthem for Loiners in any sport and has been adopted as such and rightly so. It belongs to the City of Leeds as a whole now which can only be a good thing.

It's been done before....Leeds Rhinos bought the rights when the original Leeds United club went out of business....didn't you know?!

Yes and When The Saints Go Marching In is clearly an American gospel song, which should only be sung in churches and Old Faithful should only be perfomed by men dressed as cowboys.

I Agree its a football song and always will be - and will be associated with leeds united more than Rhinos we have just hi jacked it - but when the drum beats in the south stand the lambs will start to sing it , leeds rhinos sell it now as the leeds anthem because it suites them , i refuse to sing it and it seems to me its only a core holding in the middle of the stand that sing it any way , know one round ne sings it

You could also make a strong argument that its Don Revie's Leeds Utd anthem* and bears no relevance to the current excuse for a football team in the city, its sung without reference to LUFC any more and its about the most successful sporting team the city has ever seen.

*Speaking of course as one who was there at the time and still has the white silk "Super Leeds" scarf to prove it

I may be wrong , but , I had the vinyl record of this song when I was a kid . IIRC one song was Leeds,Leeds,Leeds , and the other side was Glory , Glory Leeds United . As I said , I may be wrong , but I am almost sure there wasn't one called Marching On Together on the original single .

Are there any teams in SL that have a totally original song as their main matchday anthem ? And by original I mean the tune AND the lyrics specifically written for their team .

It's been sung by Leeds RL fans for many years, a long time before the band turned up at Headingley and along time before it was played over the tannoy system.
