| Quote ="Le Tigres"How come no-one in the media was calling for Leeds fans to be banned when they threw bottles on our pitch a few years ago? Not to say it's right, and that the few Cas fans weren't acting like idiots, but why is it that when we do it everyone is up in arms?
'"
Dont think that the majority of fans are up in arms. The true rugby fans will have nothing but sympathy for a good club with in the main good fans. Lets hope that Cas deal with it for the sake of the club and its true fans and the game in general. Dont think it helps though by you using other clubs past problems as the criteria for what those idiots' did on Saturday night. Its a difficult situation for the club, one which I'm sure they will resolve.

| Quote ="Mutts"im sure that most wakey fans would of been jesting , if some moron offered you out for a fight I as a wakey fan can only emphasize and offer apologies.
last year at cas the walkers from wakey and cas put in a tremendous effort to raise money for sky Marie a castleford fan , the abuse we got from a lot and i mean a very lot of cas fans was quite disturbing and upsetting . my lads was 6 and 8 at the time and had coins thrown at them and told to '''''''''''' off . however im intelligent to realise that the cas fans who matter would never subject a child to abuse.'"
Clearly not too intellegent.
10 out of 10 for masking your hatred of Cas under the charity guise though and added marks for subliminally introducing Cas fans and child abuse....
Last time we played at yours was the first time (barring Hull Fc 92 semi) I have feared for the safety of my young family as Wakefield "fans" pulled down fencing and ran the streets with baseball bats and posts but I am also too intelligent to think that Wakey fans who matter would subject opposing fans or members of the public to fear such as that.

Good to see that they're going to investigate, and some strong words from RW there regarding banning these people if they are identified.

| Personally I was disappointed by the references to Ian Smith, seemingly seeking to mitigate despite saying they weren't. Also, the reference to "if" people are identified suggests that for all the rhetoric, so far nobody has been banned.
I'd have rather a shorter statement, forcefully condemning the behaviour.

I am genuinely sorry - I make the effort to talk to any fans around me, home/away/neutral - don't care, I want to watch a good game and have some friendly banter. Outright hostility is for on the pitch, and even there they are usually respectful after full time whether they've been battered or not.
I stood amongst Cas fans when you stuffed us at BV last season - good banter, and I never once felt like smacking anyone 'cos my team played crap!

just seen your post and I'm sorry to here your treatment at Belle view, this is unacceptable and not the feelings of most of us at wakefield, I was surprised to see a cas shirt in the ground when I passed you, have you made an official complaint to the club regaining what happened

I can understand why some WT fans show no respect to ANY cas fan what so ever & why some of our younger adult fans seem almost equally confrontational on our own patch, when you consider how they have grown up experiencing such hostilities at away games at the jungle!- which makes it even sweeter when we pan you on the field- where it counts!'"
It's a good job you did'nt watch RL in the 80's you'd have been scared to leave the house.

| The common thread in this is booze. I like a pint at a game when I'm not driving, and I've been to every Grand Final but not sure I can remember any of them, and so I'm not being holier than thou about this. I just don't know how you get the balance right between letting people have a pint and allowing people to get out of control.
Maybe we ought to think about the football line and not allow alcohol in sight of the pitch if in the open air (just making Cats Bar stays open!). That would be a real shame, but if we are going to market ourselves as the family game, we can't allow people to get drunk and out of control at the game. If the people hadn't had the bottles with them on the terraces, there would have been nothing to throw and nothing to worry about. It would have been just lots of shouting.
And before anyone says anything, I know that would get rid of most of the beer places at Belle Vue, but I go there for the rugby, and could last eighty minutes without a pint.

| I can see the club going down the route of banning beer in the ground again. It is a lot easier to punish everyone than to actualy investigate and find who the small minority of moron's were that threw these bottles.
So the only other thing to do is punish them and the people like myself that just enjoy a couple of beers whilst watching the game that would never dream of throwing anything or causing trouble.

Likewise when Salford fans were throwing bottles and flares at their own team at the Jungle earlier this year - hardly a mention in the press. I am not condoning any of the idiots (should be banned for life) but we need to get some perspective. It was a few mindless idiots who were incensed by the referee and then further incensed by the Catalan players making rude gestures and smirking at the crowd instead of just walking away - I hope the RFL in their investigation also look at this.

They were! But as they were visitors and not us it wasnt as high profile amongst. Leeds should have lost 2 league points, as should Salford this year and now us. It sounds extreme, but our games reputation is so valuable and needs protecting with all we have got.

It would be very hard to enforce that rule though in a stadium like wheldon road or belle vue or knowsley road... any ground really where there is a standing section as its to easy to hid behind others out of view...
would be alot easier in a n all seater stadium with cctv and a decent set of stewwards.
(and that it not me having ago about whos getting a stadium first or any of that malakry lol)
