| i think kear as director of rugby - noble as head coach and lets give gary thornton the assistant coach role . 3 quality people in at the top of the club means that RW will not have to concern himself with the playing side of the club too much. I think that would be great for the club.
Thats not a dig at richard but I think a ceo needs a strong and knowledgable coaching/management team to take charge of that area .
Cas havent had that in recent years imo.

| Not sure if any of those 3 are the right choices. Noble would be the best choice but he's used to working with a decent sized budget.

| I'd choose the best candidate. The thing is, we don't know who has applied and who hasn't. This is all hearsay from the media, who let's face it, have been speculating about Morgan and Noble for months.
Adrian Vowles anyone?

I'd love to see Vowles back at Cas. However, I wouldn't want him to ruin his reputation and stature like Steady did

| In order of preference!
1) John Kear....Unlike many, I'd happily give him the chance (1 to 2 years) and then judge him afterwards. Most seem to be happy to judge him before giving him a chance at Cas....not Wakey....judge him at Cas!
2) Brian Noble, yes he would be welcome at the Jungle.
3) Justin Morgan.....can come accross as a bit of a 'wide boy' for me, so I'm not too sure.
4) Andy Hay. I never really rated him as a player, I'd have to consult the players and other staff to see what they make of him.

| I think theres a lot going for Noble as his past record is excellent.
However, I get the impression he's waiting on a call from Australia for a crack at the NRL. I'd be worried about him leaving after 1 season (a la Crusaders).
It's a shame for you guys that Matterson is going. I think he's done a cracking job... is there no chance of you making him change his mind like Huddersfield did with Brown???

| I think many Cas fans believe it is time for change. There is no doubt that Matterson has left a lasting legacy in some ways and the BoD have to be applauded for that too. Their investment into the youth system is paying dividends and that can only benefit CTRLFC in the long run.
Any coach coming in though will have to work to that current remit of focusing on youth, small number of overseas players and a tight budget until the new stadium is built.

| If the above list is true then I'm glad I don't have to decide! I think our next appointment is massive in terms of signaling the intent of the club. We either go big and really try and kick on as a club (Anderson or Gentle) or we take the cheap option and run the risk of it seriously biting us on the behind in terms of sponsorship and season ticket/merchandise sales (Hay or Kear).
Probably noble then = middle of the road from that list!

| There are over 20 applicants and as well as the ones listed above there is:
Paul Anderson
Karl Harrison
Warren Jowitt
Darryl Powell
Steve Georgallis
James Lowes
So if anyone else can add to the list for the other 8 or so applicants we can get a good look at who we would want as coach next year.

| If you can believe the Daily Star, they quote us receiving 21 applications. Although they do call Shad Royston Chad
Personally, I wouldn't have Woz, Harrison or Lowes. Would consider Paul Anderson and Darryl Powell though

| Mixed feelings, I would strongly suspect that the appointee will not likely be Noble or Kear if I am honest.
The right choice in terms of continuing the brand messages would seem to be Andy Hay; 4 years as assistant and there is no question that day to day and week to week, he will be closest to the players. Unlike with Steady stepping up who had no experience of basement battles, being up against it, managing good runs and bad runs - Andy Hay has been through relegations, scraps for survival over achieving and under achieving, so that experience does count for him, usually when assistants step up that is with limited experience.
That would seem to strengthen the loyalty and development message we are trying to create. I don't know Andy and Terry's relationships to be honest; as a Manager myself, I try and empower all my team leaders and managers to act autonimously and operate with me being there for exceptions, not day to day life...... So if Terry has this MO at the moment, then that could be a good fit.
Oddly, I wouldn't mind him being coupled with Powell or someone equally experienced in tactical and long term strategies.
There you go another opinion FWIW - An oversee's option new to coaching over here would be a big gamble, it paid off with TM, but doesn't often work short to mid-term for most.

| Not convinced about Hay, perhaps I'm still burnt after the last time we promoted an assistant to succeed a successful Cas coach...

| Noble, Powell possibly Vowles/Kemp from previous players.
Thing is anyone coming for the job would need their own crowbar to get in Dickies wallet.
