What are the licencing laws on a sunday? I thought you had to apply for a special licence if you want to sell booze before 12 on a Sunday.

As has been intimated already, it's irritating – more than – when a decision is made, at such short notice, that means that some fans cannot get to the game, even after they have forked out substantial sums of money to pay for transport to said match at originally scheduled and advertised time.

Perhaps the club/s will be so considerate as to refund such transport costs.

I was just about to ask, have you contacted the club regarding getting a refund? i'm sure if you have all the tickets/receipts etc they would sort something out

Sorry did you miss the other sporting event at the mo ? if you had noticed it on the news it wouldnt of been that hard to work out the eventuality! Always someone elses fault is it?

Well yes it is the clubs fault for reorgnising a game with less than a weeks notice. Who's fault is it that season ticket holders now cant get to the game if not the clubs? People book time off work or organise transport months in advance. Football fans apparently get more considerations than rugby fans by the club now it seems.

Binks, surely this outcome wouldn't have taken the club by surprise? From my WC2010 wallchart I could have told you months ago that there were two possible times when England's second round game could be played.

If Cas want to avoid a clash, and they are right IMO to do so, why didn't they decide straight away to have either a Friday night game, Saturday afternoon game, Sunday lunchtime game or Sunday evening game?

That way, there would be no chance of clashing with England, regardless of how they fared in their group and all the fans would know well in advance what the scheduling was, rather than giving people 3 days notice.

I've told tb to do just that.

Of course as you say, Friday would have been a better option, if it had been in the original fixture list, but I imagine the club thought like everyone else (including the England players), that England would walk the group and be playing Saturday. OK it's not ideal playing on Sunday morning (would have preferred 12.30) but it's preferable to Sunday night and I'm sure more people would have been put out if they had changed it to any time on Saturday.

Wimbledon? We've never rearranged a game for Wimbledon, which happens every year, before. Why should we start now? Sets a bad precedent imo. So what if a game clashes with another sporting event – I'm a Cas season ticket holder because I'm a [irugby league[/i fan. Harrumph! And so forth.

Given the choice they left themselfs with!! Either keep time and have a very poor crowd or Move it to 11.30 and have a decent crowd then there was only 1 choice sorry TB thats how it is

Nah - we left Cas in '72. I looked at Saturday trains, but changing the ticket would cost as much again, plus a hotel room for an overnight stay.

The annoying thing, as I've pointed out in a polite email to the club is the timing. I left it later than usual to buy train tickets, only this week, which meant I paid more than usual - and to then have it changed at 3 days notice, because it clashes with a football game, means all I've got is some exensive but useless pieces of cardboard ...

It's unfortunate tb, I applaud you for your support from such a distance, but I think the club had no alternative on this matter.

From a personal point of view I did want to watch the England game, but whatever the kick off time, I would have been at the Bulls game, but I'm sure a 3.30pm kick off would have had a massive impact on the attendance.

Ah well … at least I've got an answer from Richard apologising "for the disruption and the cost of the train fares"

Did he answer why they didn't plan for this eventuality when the WC2010 fixtures were released?

This will obviously be a money spinner for cas because they will hope people will stay on to watch the game spending money at their bars especially bradford fans who may not make it home in time!!!!!!!
