After last nights showing my Gran would be an improvement on Sherwin, he looks gone and shot of confidence (you watch he'll play a blinder next week!) Don't you have a lad in the academy whos supposed to be good, stand off I think??? Shift Chase to 7 and play the young lad, bring him through gradually this season, if he's a success then he'll be ready to take over next season, think you could do with a ball handling second row or a class winger if you're replacing Shifty with another over seas player.

Well, I can't think of a single player in the world like that, so until such a beast is unleashed in amber and black, I'll stick to my line of thinking

Maybe that was down to Mattersons poor man management skills. He seems to be thriving down at our place. Somehow I don't think you will ever see Danny boy in the black n amber again!

If I'm brutally honest it would surprise me if we see Danny in the red white and blue beyond this season. Hope I'm wrong as he really does seem to have matured both as a player and as a person, if his form carries on he must be a certainty for the elite squad.

Brough is a great player no doubt but grabs me as the type of player that will have moved alot by the time his career is over,
(abit like Bobbie Goulding).

Talent in spades but gets bored and wants a fresh start.

what about danny orr? he's off contract next year, home grown, talented, would give us more leadership on the field, wouldnt cost any more than sherwin.

32 this year though he doesn't seem to have been suffering too many injuries that I've seen.

I always thought he has been pretty good for quins, he had a bad time at wigan but that was more to them playing him wrong than him as a player.

Danny Orr is half the player Sherwin is. People probably won't accept that, but it's true...

We need a good young SH, someone who will last us for years, anothe chase type player would be nice

Unfortunatley young top notch scrum halfs, that are willing to sign for a team not challenging for trophies are as a rare as hens teeth and would cost money we cant afford. rangi was a gem of a find but unfortunatley those are quite rare.

Rangi chase was all down to adrian vowles.
Maybe adrian can keep a look out for another young half back over in oz.

sherwin is well past his best...even at the dogs his game was erratic and full of injury's towards the end.....dont forget he was playing behind a pack which included mason,o'meley,grimaldi,ryan and he still struggled at times.......... if a half-back cannot perform with them infront of you then he never will...

And Sonny Bill Williams.

I think it's pretty obvious we'll need to replace Sherwin at the end of this year due to his age and injuries (though nothing would surprise me). Therefore, it's perfectly reasonable to have a discussion on who might replace him as scrum-half. I'd love Brierly to come in and 'do a Tompkins' but we have to be realistic in that you'd be asking a teenager to take on a pivotal role in the team without any back-up, which is a gamble if you ask me.

I would like to see an experienced SH, along the lines of Brett Finch, who's remit would also be to mentor Brierley and bring him through for the future to link with Rangi. Easy to say, not easy to do though!!

Finch is a solid player,played state of origin etc, and plays behind a good pack of forwards at melbourne.

But as Sherwin found out playing behind a massive pack full of international caps in Oz doesnt mean much when our lot
are losing the forward battle here and we expect him to work miracles behind a pack going backwards.

In my opinion its the hardest position in the side to fill,as the likes of Hull and Bradford have proved,money or age no object.
