Yep, confirmed that is was a rushed last minute thing as Gentle pulled out THIS MORNING so Basil was rushed in as a last resort.

Sorry but you need to stop believing everthing you hear from your sources, they aren't telling you the whole truth. Gentle never signed a contract with Cas, he was offered the job and turned it down after the second interview stage at which playing budgets were discussed. This is why the announcement last week never came, he pulled out over a week ago. Cas have been trying to get him to change his mind and failed. Adrian Lam & Justin Morgan weren't interested either so Millward got the call friday and accepted this morning. If it makes you feel better you beat Wakey to his services, mainly because you offered him what you offered Gentle, which is a very nice package by all accounts. For what its worth I think he's a decent coach, though very difficult to like.

Can't say I'm bothered that we 'missed out' on Morgan but wouldn't rate Millward much better. Some part-time fans might see Millward as a 'big name' on the basis that he's got a high media profile and used to coach Saints during a period of success but to those of us actually attending matches regularly it's hardly an appointment to sell season tickets next year.

As has been noted elsewhere this was an opportunity to continue the forward momentum but despite seemingly taking their time over the appointment our fantastic board seem to have stuffed it up again

I wonder if gentle has had interviews with a few diff clubs if I was cas fan wud be bit disappointed as they really was expecting him to be at they're club next season
