He's been giving penalties away in our own half were teams have capitalised.
Also he's put down a few easy passes.
Not sure whats gone wrong with him, thought he was on top form for the first 4/5 games.

It's worrying that the implication here is that the choice of referee has an influence on team selection.

What team do you reckon Terry will pick for this one, given that Youngquest is still out? Is Isa available/fit again? Isa at centre and Ferres to loose (or the bench)? Or leave it as it is. Does he take into consideration the St Helens game on Monday, and rest a few now?

This next couple of weeks will be the first real test for this squad, I think, with Wakey, Saints, Leeds and Wire in the league (broken by the cup game at Rochdale - rested team?) and could give the squad a huge lift if they come through relatively unscathed, or demoralise them if they get turned over. I think as long as there aren't any major injuries (to important players) and we keep up our excellent support, we could kick on through May and June.

I hadn't really considered that, more the nature of the first game between the two but then of course that was reffed by JC as well.

Suggestion was that he would be available but it's been quiet on that front since Friday. If he is fit he'll be in and Ferres will return to LF. If Isa is not fit then I would really like to see Jordan Thompson in the centre's berth.



I would prefer him not to, play your strongest side on Friday and see where that leaves you. You can always bring folk off earlier than planned if things are going well.

It'd be ludicrous to rest any players with the trip to Saints in mind. With our strongest squad fully fit and raring to go we're extremely unlikely to get owt out of the Saints game whereas if we rest players against Wakey we could very well slip up and lose that one as well!

I've never supported this idea of picking and choosing the games you play your strongest side in - pick your strongest side from the available fit players every week and see where that gets you...

Child has been terrible for both sides in every cas game he has reffed.

But Cas have won all three he's reffed for them!

I'm quoting 30 years as this is the period of time I've watched cas and in all those years playing them a win was a formality.From the first time we got relegated playing you lot has been a win either way for both of us,hardly dominion is it?

With two reasonably even matched teams the Ref's interpretation of the rules will always have an influence on the result. With Childs it make an even greater influence.

So basically if you win, it's through your own efforts, but if we win, it'll be because we've had help from the referee?

tbh i think childs stupid penalties will slow the game down which will help wakey, quick play of the balls and fast running from dummy half cut them to bits against saints and i think we would have done the same with a competent ref. Now the game will become slow and niggly which will suit wakey far more than us

Agreed.

With two evenly matched teams one will win and one will lose or they'll draw. The referee's interpretation of the rules may or may not have an influence. The only people who complain are the ones on the side that loses, and no-one will ever be able to tell if another referee would have handled the game so that another outcome would have happened. It's complete speculation.

People can gripe, moan and complain as much as they like about the referee, but one point to bear in mind is this: the standard of refereeing is usually much better when you're a neutral spectator.
