| Because 2 or 3 years ago Danny was playing a different role to one expected now. The last couple of years he's played really well and would complement Chase well. It would take a lot of pressure off him and let him cut lose more like he did last year.

| Daniel Holdsworth?
Ben Hornby?
I'd be happy with either of these two.

| We will not sign Daniel Holdsworth, You can put your house on that one
I think we will be lining up with 6 Ben Hornby, 7 Rangi Chase, 9 Ryan Hudson - Bench- Danny Orr... I would almost put money on all 4 been at the club next year

| Anyone else feel we should be targetting slightly younger prospects?
Ben Hornby will be 31 if and when he comes over here
Danny Orr will be 34
It's as if we're determined to sign players who (yes, maybe at the top of their game at the moment) are nearing their retirement age where injuries are a lot harder to over come. Shifty being prime example of this

| Experienced plays have a useful roll though. We've had a number of games were an experienced head would have seen us to the end of a game with a win. Especially one in the halves.

| A name mentioned Ben Hornby could be brilliant could be as frustrating as previous crocks.
Another large chunk of salary cap on an aussie, this scenario is starting to annoy me. Not just with the situation at Cas but with the british game on the hole.
I would much rather see more investment in british players and youth. I know this is very difficult but i am sure it can be done with clever management. There was a big build up to the franchise last time and i feel the planning for bringing on the youth at Cas has been far too slow. I know you can't throw a kid to the wolves but with no relegation the stage was set to blood youth.
I know it is a very tough ask but i would be much happier with a more balanced squad, a mixture of youth and experience. And not so much money to one or two aussies.
I am not totally against southern hemispere players, look at rangi. He is young came over proved his worth and earned an extended deal. I have no problem with that and i have no problem with a player that will bust a gut in the cas shirt giving value for money, just a more balanced squad.
Next thing it is probably time for a new coach one that can bring out the best in people. A player may not be a superstar or has gone off the boil, get a coach in who can do the full package offering mentoring, motivation, development, discipline and respect, plus the skills and knowledge to set the game plan. basically bring the best out of people. Another tough task
For me it is time for a change of attitude at cas. ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

| Quote ="deeman forever Cas"A load of sensible stuff....... For me it is time for a change of attitude at cas.
'"
In my work I manage people and I also see a lot of people languishing around getting by and you are right mate...... When you do something, it is a lot easier to commit a bit, try hard and that make all the right noises but not go all in heart, mind body and soul.... because if you hold a bit back consciously or sub-consciously, then it hurts less when you fail - because you usually will in those circumstances.
The greats, as men, managers, coaches, players can trust and put it all out there, everything every sinew and the prospect of second, or the thought of not achieving their goal - they don't entertain it, they would look at you blankly if you even asked them about it.
I give you Jose Mourinho, has Sam Eto'o playing left mid getting his foot in.... JM has managed to take one of the most talented strikers in the game and give him the drive, passion and belief to sacrifice his game for the good of the group and for the goal...... good on JM for making it happen and good on SE for being clever enough to trust and commit and believe..... worked didn't it?
Don't get me wrong, I am not the oracle on management and motivation, but I do know management and I can see our problem - We think we're mediocre and we DONT believe we should be at the top table and as a result we're not and nobody else does either. Not a surprise.
So, who can succeed - the person who can make us believe..... That person needs to be on the field, like Johns did for Wolves a couple of years ago, the coach, like TM when he first came or like Stuart Raper did, or in the board room.... The catalyst can come from anywhere, but a catalyst is what we need.
Boring lecture over, lets get back to calling Wakey names! Soz all!

| If we signed Hornby and Orr we would finally have some depth at halfback, and if Brierly can continue his development too that will be an added bonus.
I dont think age in the new signings are a big factor, its as much as how you look after themselves plus the experience they bring to the side.

| i would sign hornby because they is no idea if he would like england and he will be like sherwin and old australia look for the money and he is 30yr now.
Daniel Holdsworth is young and i think he would go good with chase. he is a goalkicker and as i top goal kicking game.

I dont think Hornby will be on the same money as Sherwin was, the club was desperate for a scrum half after promotion from N.L 1, and Brough had left for Wakey and Sherwin's agent took full advantage of this.
I have seen Hornby play a few times for St George and is a useful player,he can play at half back and full back, so there are options there too. Im not sure if he played Origin or not....not that means owt at Cas look at Craig Greenhill ![Sad icon_sad.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_sad.gif)

| From what I hear, the money Shenton is asking from Cas to stay is astronomical, as much as we'd love to keep him one player is not bigger than the club and for the wages he is apparently asking we could sign practically anyone.

| I do want Shenny to stay, but paying silly money is a big no for me also. The lad has potential for sure but i did expect much more from him this season considering he's an international now. Too many times i see him grabbing at players as opposed to putting the shoulder in. He also has let one or two players run past him far too easily. I think he's been quiet in attack, but i do put much of that down to the way we attack (pretty poorly mostly). His defence though needs to toughen up for me for him to be classed as an international standard player, and one that Saints are prepared to pay big money to replace Gidley.

| Too true Marshy. I don't think he has set the world alight this season. He has pretty much been a good quality reliable centre and we can get one of those for a lot less money than he is reputadly asking.
