No idea why but the Brits can coach, they just don't seem to get the backing of people running the club....i'm thinking of JJ in particular

Yes, I would give him a chance. Personally, I don't think he's done a bad job with the limited resources of the teams he has coached over the past 10 - 15 years.

He's a local lad, he wears his heart on his sleave.....set the expectations out clearly in stone and give him a 2 year chance.

In 2006, 2008 & 2009 he coached Wakey to a higher finishing spot than Matterson did with us and we've stuck with him!

Look at the improvement McGuire and Brown made at Wigan & Hull respectively to their British predecessors with largely the same squads! Neither were experienced NRL head coaches so it just goes to show there are good Aussie coaches about who mightn't have been given the chance yet in Oz.

Personally if Matterson does leave at the end of this season I'd be looking for a promising assistant coach from the NRL (unless we can get someone like Steve Foulkes or Wayne Bennett
