I think you are quite right.

Westerman is having a much more difficult time this season - partly as a result of sophomore blues; partly because he does far too much tackling; and partly because we are not creating the busts out wide for him either.

Still think he is THE major prospect - but this should be a gentle reminder of minor issues.

Well done Shenny - also not at his best yet this season, but thought on Sunday the signs were looking better.

Most of his junior career, and a couple of times in NL1 (I believe?)

Defence has been tighter recently, it was a minor flaw in Joe's game last season and has improved significantly and has added another dimension to his increasing amoury.

That's why you shouldn't get over excited by youngsters and certainly don't label them as future greats it's fatal.


The test of the player will be how he comes back from the initial hype and really makes his name. For example I remember Shaun Edwards bursting on the scene then treading water for a while before bursting back and fullfilling his early potential. Sadly I can name countless young players who never bounced back and sank into oblivion or NL1/2 as it's sometimes known.

Don't think this will happen to Westerman, if nothing else his size will ensure him a future of sorts. That said I hope that he kicks on skill and determination wise and becomes a true star.

He is doing well, just not as well as last year because he's changed where he is on the pitch. His defence is probably better then last year, he just isn't getting the attacking chances he had last year, so no you didn't tell us, you're still wrong.

Thats because TM is playing him in a totaly different roll this season.
His defence is first class though.

To be honest I don't think theres anything between them, they both know where the try line is and (apart from Millenium weekend when both were poor) are both solid defenders who can read the game well and put some good shots on. Should be good to see them pairing up together.
