Does the above entail homophobia? Really?

People please realise this is not an anti Leeds campaign by Cas fans, you were just heard first on the Sky and we are waiting to see which way the RFL will go.
A satisfactory outcome for me would be to drop the fine and overturn what has happened at the tribunal swapping it for a stern public warning and some common sense and a more concerted drive to rid the numpties and educate people from schools up like is occuring now but more widespread and possibly more RFL involvement.
When Dwain Chambers came Cas took him round the schools on a drug education push, is the same happening with GT at crusaders?

Unfortunately it was Leeds, unfortunately we have some numpties who were present at GT's first away game.

No, if a player with no reputation or history had received the 'fat ginger b*stard' chants before the game had kicked off, then it could possibly have been claimed that this was victimisation. If the Saints fans had started chanting that Ryan Bailey (a player with history there) was a n*gger, then that would obviously not be acceptable. What the Cas fans did would be akin to making racist chants to someone like Michael Worrincy before the game had kicked off.
No, why would he? To educate children on the dangers of being a homosexual?

Yes, he could warn them to stay away from Michael Barrimores swimming pool!

Do feel Mr Thomas could generate a more positive response and enable kids in particular a better understanding of homosexuality in general if he was to follow in the footsteps of Mr Chambers if he was to spend half the time hes given the press in schools.

and sorry to jump into the conversation, new member to the forum and after reading through most club sections figured this was a good place to start on here.

I have posted on the Leeds forum thread regarding a few points on this issue both last night and this morning as they seem a tad unhappy with us at present but they dont seem to want to talk to me (have a quick look - seem to be happy to dig but not to involve themselves in conversation) !

There always like that on the leeds board, not interested in any sort of conversation that doesnt involve saying they are the best rl team ever blah blah blah, hudds board is getting that way.

If you want to talk about rugby wakefield, quins and hull (fc) boards are better.

Had to respond on the Leeds board after reading one poster state anyone who sent a letter regarging there issue with James Graham to the League Express needed 'a good slap'

Not a bright thing to do is it ? It's not the first time a song of that nature about a player has been heard sadly. We'll have to see as to what, if anything, happens after that chant towards Cooke.

That is pretty horriffic, I wonder what if anything will be done about it?

I am writing to complain about the abusive and expletive-littered chanting directed towards Hull FC player Paul Cooke during the above game.
Early in the game, Hull FC supporters could be clearly heard chanting; "Die, die, Cookie [Paul Cooke f***ing die". This is in clear contradiction of the RFL's Respect policy which states that:
"RFL Respect Policy :Note - Clubs are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents/carers of players, coaches, officials,volunteers and spectators.
1 No person/s attending a match shall:
a. Use offensive or obscene language to any player, coach, referee, touch judge, official or other spectator;"

As the Complaince Manager with the RFL, I would urge you to investigate these abusive and offensive chants. I am beginning to re-consider attending further Super League games as I do not wish my young daughter to hear such offensive chanting. Likewise, I no longer feel confident watching Sky coverage of the Super League as, having watched a repeat of this game, the chanting is clearly audible on television.

Time to see if the RFL will follow the precedent they have set.

I sent a very similar correspondence to the RFL a couple of years ago regarding the self same chant. I received a reply agreeing that it was out of order and a promise that ' it would investigated thoroughly'.
Whether in view of your clubs recent fine anything will be done remains to be seen, I wouldn't hold my breath on it though.

As there was no homophobic abuse directed towards Paul Cooke, then I'm not sure how they could follow that precedent.

Not the first time this chant has been sung by the moronic element of their fans, ( but the first time its been heard via sky) and rightly condemned by the right minded fans on their board, but IMO its as bad as the chants, sung by the minority of Cas idiots, directed to Thomas.

Wonder if the RFL will dish out equal punishment ?
