| Quote ="jourdmart"Temporary sharing would work, over the space of a few years. Long term sharing will lead to an ultimatum from the RFL or Superleague - merge or go (that's if we're still in SL by then....).'"
It seems obvious that this would happen. With two sides sharing a stadium, the easiest way to make space in the ESL for a new team coming in would be to 'lose' the poorest performing of the two (judged on criteria of on field performance, attendances and junior development). The share would last for one licence cycle IMO before one side took the fall.

Similar on the Wakey forum. I'm guessing there will be trolls on both sites trying to skew the figures.

| I picked option 1. I like WR myself, but if you want a new stadium then go get it - but I don't want to be part of it, and WMDC should steer clear if it is a stadium for the Tigers only (unlike Newmarket, which would be a community facility where Trin would be tenants). I'd sooner go to Barnsley or even Fev.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Glasshoughton going to be a community facility, albeit partly owned by the club?

| Sorry if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that (until you ran short of money) it was a stadium for the Tigers - nowt wrong with that, mind, and good luck to you.You didn't need council money, or so I thought. How have the plans changed to make it a community stadium? Who will own and manage the Stadium? A community trust or Cas board of Directors? If it is genuinely going to be built as a community stadium then I have no objections at all to WMDC helping out - if not, then the council should steer clear and use the money to benefit the community they represent - they could do with the money to partly replace the school building programme that has just been stopped by this Fasc - sorry, Tory - government.

=#8000FF- With council money there's no funding gap
- Cas offered to let the council have facilities in the stadium, with Cas running them/general upkeep on the councils behalf
- Cas BoD would be running it all, with some facilities run for the council, the stadium for Cas and Surfworld, by at a guess, Surfworld.

| Thanks for that. I suppose it all depends on what facilities Cas let WMDC have as to whether you could justify any council funding, but from what you say this will clearly not be a community stadium but a commercial enterprise run for the profit of Cas Tigers.

Well Wakey's plans are sure for the community, 200 acres+ of green belt going to make way for warehouses etc, with out that you have no funding for a stadium at all do you ?

You are wrong - apology accepted.
It was never solely a stadium for the Tigers and was never presented as such by anyone. It was always to be a multi-purpose stadium, as Gaslight has said, complete with amenities to serve the local community. As far back as its original announcement in March 2006 this idea was put forward. Obviously as a Wakefield fan, you wouldn't have taken much notice, but the evidence is here:
[url=http://www.wakefieldfirst.com/en/developments/285/Developments-New-Stadium-for-Tigers?menu0=group3&menu1=developmentsClick Me[/url
Plans have not changed, unless you mean the "Surfworld" add-on announced 10 months ago.

In terms of ownership, it's not clear, but I do seem to remember that it would be jointly owned by at least the Tigers and Waystone - could have been some other consortium but I can't remember and don't know where I read it now.
Hope that clears some of it up. Someone else should be able to fill you in on the rest.

100's of jobs being created during a recession, money coming into the council for business rates etc, major new facilities run by the community trust for the communities benefit and well being - these aren't Wakies plans, our club can't afford them, these are the plans put forward by the developers and the community trust. To be honest, I wouldn't want our BOD running something like that, it's scary enough watching them trying to run a rugby club! And no, without that we don't have any money for a stadium, and I don't think the council should build us one (unlike Hull, Widnes, Salford, Saints etc.) - they should stick to schools and maybe re-invent decent council houses - but I have no objection to the proposed deal by YorkCourt, which benefits the developer, the council, the community AND any team that wants access to a shiny new stadium. Who knows, if England get the footy world cup it would make an ideal training base for a major team, with a 5 star hotel just down the road and easy access to Elland Road stadium!

No, the casino fell through when they decided to have one and stick it in Blackpool or somewhere unfortunately.

So what are these community facilities?
The link uses the word 'community' many times but is a bit vague on what is being built for community use. Maybe you have more up to date links to the details?
Maybe something like the ones proposed at Newmarket [urlhttp://www.swag-online.co.uk/[/url
"An educational and Elite Performance Centre together with indoor and outdoor training amenities are set to be situated at the site. A four court sports hall, a fitness gym, a medical treatment room, several class rooms, a restaurant and a massage suite are all proposed to be incorporated into the Centre."
These look great in theory but at the moment they look like they will never happen.
A privately run stadium which may be available to rent out for concerts that Dicky sees as a community project is pushing the definition somewhat. It's like saying the 10-pin bowling or skiiing are community projects because they're available to the public.
Not trying to get into an argument or anything, just looking for more info on the community element of your stadium. Not happy at all with the current state of limbo. Hope you get started soon so at least there will be an option for the RL teams in the district. At the moment the future is looking grim for both clubs but especially Trinity... and the clock is ticking.

Various local sports facilities currently under-represented in the area to be confirmed by WMDC who were supposed to be investing in that aspect of the stadium.

While it might be short on specifics, it's clear that the club is working with the council to produce a stadium with community sports facilities, and which has always been the intention from the outset.
The original point put by wakeyrule was that
Quote ="wakeyrule"
.. I was under the impression that (until you ran short of money) it was a stadium for the Tigers... How have the plans changed to make it a community stadium?... If it is genuinely going to be built as a community stadium then I have no objections at all to WMDC helping out - if not, then the council should steer clear and use the money to benefit the community they represent
'"
The facts are these:
The stadium was always intended to be a community stadium.
The plans have not changed in that regard.
Any input from WMDC would only have been towards the community facilities provided by the stadium.
All this has been well-publicised in the past.
I'm not on here for an argument, either. Because I'm a Cas fan, I've taken no interest in any of the plans for a new stadium for Trinity and I assume that when the Glasshoughton plans started, many Wakefield fans wouldn't have taken much interest in our plans. All I wanted to do was put the story straight. I've got no connections with anyone at the Council, Waystone or the Tigers so if you're looking for meaty stuff that's not available in the public domain, you've got the wrong bloke.
