Wakefield lost to Saints by two tries that would almost certainly have been wiped by the Video Ref on a Sky game. So what, it's tough on us but there is no guarantee that we would have won over the 80 mins.
Saints won and nothing will change that, I'm sure over the season things will even themselves out. When that happens to Cas I do hope you will be as vociferous in your attack on the Ref and show your utmost support for the club you and the Ref robbed.
All Refs are rubbish when you lose especially tight games, have you not sussed that yet.

it would seem that the people saying you were hard done by need to go and learn the rules before post rubbish! nothing wrong with the vid ref calls. the try where people are saying it wad a knock on are 100% wrong! I don't like the rule myself but it was the correct call.

Or alternatively he didn't!
It's all opinion of course but for mine that wasn't a try otherwise it's ok to throw the ball forward a la American football and as long as you touch it (or even if you dont! ) as it hit's the ground it's a try! Is that rugby league? Not for me it's not!
I also thought Ainscough touched the line with the ball before it popped out but I suppose this was a fifty/fifty call and some go for you, some against. Having said that, isn't the benefit of the doubt supposed to go to the attacking team?

It is, but we suffered that in the National Rail Final against Leigh a few years back when denied what looked like a perfect try.
Horrible feeling isn't it.

Absolute rubbish! Just as the people saying it was definitely NOT a try are equally wrong - its purely a matter of opinion!
The video ref had to make the decision whether the players hand was in contact with the ball prior to it hitting the ground and assuming it was, did he have sufficient control of the ball. The VR decided 'yes' to both points and whilst it seems the majority of people are in disagreement with him it's his decision that counts. It isn't the 1st time a video ref has given what many perceive to be the wrong decision and it won't be the last.
For what it's worth I think one of the Cas tries came off a forward pass and another could have been disallowed for obstruction but the VR decided to let that one stand.
Personally though I'd rather not dwell on one bad decision that went against us and concentrate more on the other reasons that we failed to win. Quite simply our ball control near the Hull KR line was not good enough, neither were our final tackle kicking/passing options. A more competent side would have scored 50 points with the field position and opportunities we created.
Results in previous rounds have shown that Hull Kr are not the side they were last season and if Cas can't beat them at home it looks like we're in for a long hard season!

| =#8040FFWatching the game again now, here's another 2 bad decisions in the space of about a minute!:
Dobson knocks on in the build up to Cockayne's try, the resulting kick off the ball is recovered by a KR player who is 20 metres offside, you see Bentham bringing the whistle to his mouth then stopping upon what can only be on the "advice" of Ganson or the RFL man in the stand telling him that they have picked KR to win this game. Webster gets tackled with his elbow on the try line, which should be a drop out, Bentham waves play on the same set on the 3rd tackle KR inside the 10 he calls Cas offside when every player is clearly onside.
Thanks to the RFL and mainly Cummings I am no longer watching this sport.

Its got nothing to do with his elbow, if the ball is over the line then its play on. Thats like saying you can score a try if your elbow touches the try line! bizarre!

| Having studied the rule book today, Ive come to the conclusion that Liam Watts final try was CORRECTLY awarded. There is nothing in the rules that prevents it being given.
However, Scott Murrells was INCORRECTLY awarded, as Liam Watts made no attempt to play the ball correctly.
That said I personally feel that the word "control" should be in the laws regarding the scoring of a try. Try as I might, I cannot find it. Im open to being wrong, but thats my interpretation.
So in my view Cas were wrongly done by the match officials, who week after week stun me with their incompetance from Super League down to amatuers on a weekend. Whats is worse is the pandemic of arrogance that is rife amongst them. Zero humility at all.
BUT, before I get shot down, its not the main reason Cas lost - our errors were to blame!

| There was another questionable referee decision for the first HKR try. The HKR forward (Watts?) was held up over the line but the referee allowed him to play the ball on the tryline (he never actually played the ball) and HKR dummy half dove over to score.
1) The play the ball should have been 10 metres from the line
2) We need to enforce the play the ball with the foot rule, not attempt to play it with the foot.
I also thought that Ainscoughs try shouldn't have been ruled out, there was more than good reason for giving that try on benefit of the doubt.

In your head maybe but not in the head of Mr Gansons, that's the only opinion that counts on this occasion. Over the course of a season these things even themselves out. You all seem to conveniently forget the dodgy forward pass that lead to one of Ainscoughs tries. You lot should really take your black and amber glasses off and get in the real world!

At no point did any rovers players claim that was a try, so rovers did'nt cheat, it was a ref decision so rovers cannot be apportioned the blame.

| Next time i play rugby in a tight game, when near the line, im gunna hit a gap, throw the ball through the gap (not letting it touch the floor of course) and just as its about to hit the floor ill stick a finger at the side of the ball (without any control whatsoever) and score the winner!
Without a doubt the WORST desicion i have ever seen watching rugby league, end of.......
Dont even get me started on Ainscough's dissallowed try!!
But............. Big But................
I dont think we deserved to win, any team who lets go of a 10 point lead, then an 8 point lead, with 10 mins left, with as many chances as we bombed, doesnt deserve to win!!
Still we were Robbed!!

| A conspiracy, orchestrated at Red Hall, and implemented by cheating match officials to make us lose the game, come what may?
Jeez: have we all turned into some horrible amalgam of Starbug and the worst of the Widnes fans immediately after the franchise decisions???
atotd, the reason we lost is clear in the pattern of the game: in both halves we came out scored two quick tries (while failing to convert one) but couldn't build on that and put the game to bed – instead, in the second 20 of both halves, we let Rovers back into the game and they scored two tries each half, and converted all four goal attempts.
and fwiw: my opinion on the controversial VR decisions:
• the Ainscough one was always going to be "no try" – he grounded the ball short, and while I initially thought momentum carried him and the ball over, it was clear that the ball bounced up and went flying away while he slid over
• the "step over" – I'd have disallowed that for an improper ptb (in fact no attempt to play the ball), but, again ateotd, I'm not a ref
• the "knock on" – a clear 50-50 decision that could have gone either way but the VR ruled that he got a hand to the ball before it hit the ground, and it's as difficult to argue conclusively against that as it would be to argue conclusively against it if he'd gone the other way and ruled a knock-on.
Oh – and seven minutes from the end? There was time there for us to win it, if we'd shown the form and intensity we showed in the opening of both halves at the end of the game. It never really looked likely though.
I remember standing on the Railway end with about 17 minutes to go when we were still 20-12 up and thinking, not "we can go on and put this to bed" but "there's still plenty of time for us to lose this". And we did.
Which was disappointing.
