He could get more money in Australia over the next 3 years than he could in England. Have you not seen the strength of the Aussie Dollar or the fact that there salary cap is going up massively.
Its only average players coming over from the NRL that see real benefit as they go from being on a pittance to a decent wage on the basis that there Australian so must be good!
In order of likeliness I think it will be 1 Cas 2 Leeds 3 Warrington (they have some magic formula that makes players fit under the cap)
He made his break with Wakey, won things with Leeds, tested himself at the highest level he could with Wests and will now probably finish his career at the club he supports at Cas!
A 3year deal may scare off the top clubs because he will be 35 by the time his contract ends and will still be on huge money! A 2 year deal at Leeds and his swansong season at Cas would probably suit him well though!

I can see it panning out like that; 2 years on top dollar with a glamour club, then a final year at whichever smaller club can afford to pick him up.
Whatever happens, it'll be great to see him back in SL.

I know full well he could have made more money by staying in Australia, thing is he wants to play over here! He'll take the best financial package he can get, whether that be Cas or whoever. My bet is that he'll end up at Leeds again, Hetherington has already claimed they have room on the cap for a marquee signing.

| My guess is Ellis would go back to Leeds 1st, then maybe Hull or Warrington next.
As much as i would like to see him in a Cas shirt i don't think the board could pull it off to be honest.

| With a lot of players off-contract and the captaincy up for grabs, I can see no better lure for Ellis than leading out his hometown club into a new stadium and new generation.
He's won things in his career. I think if he's true to his word we stand a very good chance of luring him.
To the person who quoted the pack as well:
Emmitt
Milner
Huby
Ellis
Holmes
Ferres
Walker
Millington
Clark
Mitchell
Squad Players
Massey
Thompson
Martin
Harris
Strong-ish team there - that's pretty much the pack sorted

Priceless, especially coming from that side of the muck , where i may add they are experts at administration .
Whatever next ? Wildthing threatening to ban everyone ? Dodgy window man erecting a pigeon loft and telling the RFL that they are stands ?
The list is endless
SBK grow a pair and do one you clown

| As a Warrington fan I really hope Cas sign Ellis.
SL needs teams such as Cas to be a real force. We cant have Warrington, Wigan, Saints and Leeds picking up all the best talent all of the time or else the competition is going to get dull and boring.
I cant see Warrington having an interest in Ellis to be honest, we are ok for 2nd rowers. We have other areas that need looking at for 2013.

I couldn't agree more but it is up to Cas to show the ambition and make sure that we get Gareth signed up as early as possible. For me RW has no excuses not to make an offer that Gareth Ellis cannot refuse and it doesn't need to be a bank breaking offer either.
Such a key signing would kick start the regeneration of success at Cas. If the young lads aren't enthused by such an iconic player coming then I don't know what will, the opportunity to learn so much will be invaluable to not only each individual player but to the club also. Other potential signings would also see the signing of GE as an indication of the club's ambition.
I think without doubt that crowd's would increase on his signing alone which would generate more cash for better players and produce even bigger crowds. It worked for Warrington so there is no reason why it can't work for us, it's down to one man to regain his credibility and lead the club forward.
So Mr Wright get your finger out and finally prove to us all your worth.

| More than an utterance of caution is required here - I have seen it hundreds of times before with sports.
This is little more than badge kissing and in the cold light of day won't make a blind bit of difference come signature time; I am not having a pop at Gaz Ellis in any way, but he is a comodity and his interest (rightly so) is mercenary in a short career to look after his family for his post playing career, so this is little more than he and his agent creating a demand and inviting other clubs as well to "break the pull of his heart strings to Cas" and make him re-think his boyhood dreams - the best way to rethink my dreams is £00's on a cheque.
So, in the interests of balance if Gaz Ellis wanted to come to Cas above all other things, he instructs his agent to contact our club quietly without discussing it, gets our best offer and negotiates. At that stage if that is not what he was hoping, then he can contact choices 2 and 3 for balance, there is no need for this come and get me facade other than to pretend no fuss is wanted, when in fact a fuss is the objective.
I can't believe people are as naive as to simply read the words at face value and tell Richie W the prize is there for the taking. Master stroke from Ellis and his people either way now. There is not a Coach, Chairman or anyone connected with any club side in the world would not talk to Gaz Ellis in either code if he wanted to chat about a contract.
Dont believe the way things look at first glance people, it's sport business not a mills and boon. I always say I would give anything for a pro-SL contract at Cas, but when it comes down to it a £20k per year pay as you play contract would soon take the edge of my love and devotion and see me back at my day job!
