-Both millionaires, both avid Wakefield fans.

TBH if you were taken over by a sugar daddy (or consortium of sugar daddies) I'd be sick with envy.

From a distance it looked like the last throw of the dice, just goes to show.

Both have approached the club in the last 10 years, but both were unwilling to share control with a. Ted or b. Any of the number of family members he has brought on board over his term.
What this statement does is clears the stumbling block of the perception of the old regime still having a foothold after a new buyer comes in.
Put simply; would you want the old owners of your house living in the conservatory or garden shed? No you want control of what you paid for.

If Fulton and Wright had made this statement around the time Caddick was knocking around your future could have been very different to what it is now.

I don't want this to descend into (yet another) measuring contest, I just thought I'd give you a more detailed account of what's going on, from the perception of someone on this side of the fence.

It seems he has no option but to sell now.
The RLF have regulations against being in charge/owning a club with a current IVA. His hand is being forced by this, to make matters worse selling now means any money he does get will go to his creditors. Bad times for Ted, but on the other hand an excellent time for a new buyer. You would get the club at a cut price with the club's value set to sky rocket when the WCT (Wakefield Community Trust) is given the green light for NM.
A solid initial investment into the current squad of 1M could do wonders if spent correctly and IMO could easily be recouped at NM with a successful team over a stable 3 year period.- exactly what Salford are doing.

Could be the making of Wakey, on the other hand it could be the beginning of the end. What I'd be concerned about if I was a Wakey fan would be the precedent the RFL set with Widnes. Despite having a flush new owner, they took into account the financial mismanagement of the previous administration and used that as an excuse to keep them in the Championship. I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

I'd be surprised if anyone took them on before the new stadium had got the green light though.

It sounds (Sadly) to me like they are screwed! Why are the trying to step down when a new stadium is on the horizon? They know something the fans don't

No Ted Richardson has jumped because of the rfl rules of owners being in a IVA.

If they get the green light on Newmarket i would expect some interest in Ted's stake.

My solution would be to have a consultant to advise. Put it this way; Let's imagine it was me who bought the club, I paid £X for the club from Ted and gave my coach another £X to spend on the squad. As I have no experince of owning & running a Super League club (not knowing going rates, contractual obligations and customs) I would hire an outside advisor to inform me before I rubber stamped any transfers.
If Jonathan France were to buy the club I would hope he would do the same.
