May I ask why it's called Five Towns Park?

Nice to see the planing committee making a meal of it, whats to discuss! look at the plans give the go ahead or decline,expences all round and down to the pub.

Castleford is part of the Five Towns area of West Yorkshire. The other towns are Normanton, Pontefract, Featherstone and Knottingley.

I'm aware that they are the five towns of Wakefield. I'm just wondering since Cas is one town why have they called their stadium Five Towns Park? Like the poster above says its in Cas and not the others?

It might be called that to incorporate Fev if at some time in the future they end up playing there.

They haven't called the stadium Five Towns Park.

The whole project is called Five Towns Park (nature reserve, retail and stadium). It's been called that because it's about delivering a project for the benefit of the Five Towns, aimed at keeping Five Towns pounds in the five towns area than heading to Leeds or Wakefield.

To be fair it would not take much to be better than both stadiums, the reason I said that is because there are rumours' around of financial difficulties at the club even though the recent ccj has been sorted, like Wakey and Cas before them they are unlikely to advertise their financial failings if indeed they do have debts hopefully not, which brings me back to my original tongue in cheek point, it does not matter how good the ground is it's a saleable asset if your in financial trouble.

I'm all for that Fully. Can't stand having to drive to the White Rose or Crown Point. It could be a new slogan that "keep the pound in the 5 towns".

The new site is owned by Lateral Property Developments and I believe they have they have a company they already have lined up that they have worked with in the past.

Stadium will be owned by Cas.

The reason I asked is because I genuinely did not know exactly other than in the vicinity of the escape area just where Waystones was building their/your stadium which prompted my question, does Waystone still own the land or have they sold it or are we talking about a different piece of land?

The land near Xscape is dead in the water. I think we have told Waystone we're not going there.

The new piece of land is the side of J32 roundabout on the right between Park Road and Spittal Hardwick Lane at opposite side of the land. It is owned by Lateral and will be redeveloped to have a retail park, stadium, petrol station and a nature park.

There was a bunch of surveyers on there on Friday morning. They were out with tripods the lot. If anyone out there knows why they use it i would like to know!

I never said it was!

I said the area is known as Wakefield and Five Towns and not "The Five Towns of West Yorkshire" as you wrongly called it in your earlier post. No doubt you couldn't find it in yourself to call the area Wakefield and Five Towns so tried being cute by saying West Yorkshire instead.
