word has it that he would take it too if it was offered as he's not convinced at all by Basil's coaching and how he's handling the club and it's players at present,apparently the whole coaching team don't rate him one bit and reckon that the club has gone back years from when matterson was at the club and that the after effects of this will show up down the line

Should we be concerned about Basil if this is true?

To be fair, I'm surprised Thornton has stayed this long. Was a very good coach at Batley so it seems unusual for him to stay down the ranks at Cas.

Agree - don't think it is any surprise GT attracts attention of clubs for his experience.... but that is why. his experience.

Anything else is merely conveniently adding another dimension that doesn't exist - if Basil and GT had aproblem with each other, they would have encouraged each other to pursue other opportunities by now, for someone of Gary's experience int he game, he could have gone somewhere else quicker and easier than this.

Back O/T, GT is a very well respected coach and a nice guy, i'm sure if Mildred wanted shut he would have been gone by now, but he won't be short of offers, very much Cas's loss, but equally very lucky having him in the job in the first place.

I told you that Gary was gonna go,He apparently chose the York job when it was offered because the Rams who were his preffered choice of clubs were hesitating decision wise regarding keeping or releasing their present coach Jowwit
Good luck to GT as i believe that he has done a great job down the lane,i would have personally liked to have seen him move up the coaching pecking order at our club

It looks like GT was right all along in wanting out of the club and that what i was told back in July was correct too in regards to Basil



My choice of coach would be Karl Harrison if/when Basil departs as i believe that he did a very good job at Salford but was unfairly dismissed despite doing a very good job,he would certainly stand no nonsense from our players who clearly are more concerned about which beer run they are doing next than doing our great club any great service out on the field,it makes you realise just how good a coach TM was doesn't it

When names from the championship get bandied about I'm always amazed that no-one (apart from me) mentions Mark Aston. He might not have the SL experience or, perhaps more significantly, the profile of Powell/Harrison/Kear but despite fewer resources he has once again handed most if not all of them their posteriors on a plate.
