I don't think anyone can honestly say they saw the Crusaders thing coming, not heard it mentioned anywhere!!!!!!

Mixed feelings, on the one hand a smack in the face for SLE and their forced expansion and rightly so that we should only look at sustained manageable development.
On the other hand, how stupid does it make our sport look when we trumpet all over the Crusaders addition and the "strategic Welsh hotbed of Rugby League" then they make the top 8........ Then they withdraw becuase it is unsustainable.

All the above given, cock a hoop for us, the right choice and no matter how Wakey have been saved, glad for our local area that they have been; it is still a straight foot race locally to deliver a new stadium, becuase sure as eggs is eggs, the only people still standing in 3 years will be the ones who have done what they said they would.

Rumours were abound about players not being paid, Confirmed on Twitter by players themselves now, all i can see if the club folding again

Did anyone else get the impression that it all seem a bit last minute, i watched it live and when announcing the 'C' grades Richard Lewis kept looking to the side as if he was getting his cues from off stage, i wonder when Crusaders actually withdrew their application?

Very interesting interview with Richard Lewis on 5 Live at 1.30.

Points that came out were:

there has been a dialogue between clubs tendering and the RFL throughout the licensing process;
nothing conclusive had been done until this week;
Crusaders withdrew their application yesterday (Monday);
Wakefield's application was better than Halifax's which is why Wakey stay in.

All of these things were said directly and not alluded to, the last one in direct response to a text from a listener bemoaning Wakefield's continued residence in SL.

Dunno if they will put it up on the 5 Live website or the BBC RL page. Doesn't seem to be there yet.

Bet your bottom dollar they didnt know untill yesterday or today, The players had no idea whatsoever, look at senior / sammut on twitter !!!! Wonder what will happen with the 700k that is owed to the RFL now ?
